don't bother if you don't know Chinese
Jul 2018 • Solo
like many of the points of interest in Pingyao, this place has minimal English translation for the materials this place is presenting. This place does discuss the importance of martial arts to the Armed Escort business in the area and the development of martial arts in China. However if you don't know Chinese, I'd say just skip it.

A good place to learn about Chinese Martial Arts
Sep 2017 • Solo
This is a great place to learn about the history of Chinese martial arts and weapons. The collection is quite complete. An interesting place to visit. It's near other major attractions, so wouldn't hurt to pop in and out, no more than 30 minutes.

Lot of weapons with really good explanations in overall. However don't miss the important detail ! All weapons and history of China have its English translation BUT the war between Japan and China ! Interesting no ?

Swords, spears, shuriken...
Dec 2014 • Family
A museum dedicated to chinese martial arts/wushu. Interesting array of martial art weapons on display and a practise courtyard where lessons were carried out. The children enjoyed looking at the various swords, spears etc. There's even a small archery compound where you can try hitting the target for a small fee.
