What a gem for hiking! This is a beautiful hike with rolling hills, a babbling creek, and even grazing cattle Don't get me wrong, it is definitely a workout hiking up and down the hills but just so peaceful and visually relaxing. If you are looking for a place where happy cows live...this is it! TIPS: Bring lots of water... More

One of the best places to hike in San Diego County. The rolling hills, great views and getting to see the cattle still on the preserve.

This preserve is quite beautiful with diverse landscape and hardly anyone else on the trail. I have done several trail runs from the East trailhead to the West trailhead (about 7-9 miles, depending on how you do it) and it is so enjoyable. (I get a pick-up on the other end!) Love the oak canopies and big open spaces equally!

They were off in the distance chasing rabbits, that they could not catch. A lovely place for a picnic lunch. I go and get a Dudley's sandwich and just be with nature. Tons of open dpace and eady hiking. During the winter the hills are green and beautiful. Spring and summer, beware of snakes, as they will be stretched out... More

The hike from the trailhead is somewhat hilly, but it is worth the ups and downs just for the views. Worth every step.

Beautiful vistas of back country mountains and meadows which easily accessible either by walking or by mountain bike. The preserve is pet friendly as long as dogs are kept on leashes. It is adjacent to open range ranches so don't be surprised if you encounter some mellow back country cattle ambling thru.

The Preserve is just that, a great creek and meadow land home for all riparians. Open range, so you see cattle, sometimes a possessive bull, and lots of birds. A friend came away with a great close up of a Golden Eagle! There are three separate portions, all are good.

Easy to moderate hike, great views. Has some awesome picnic spots. Well marked trail system. Good for those new to hiking. Has a few hills you might want to prepare for. Bring water the hike it self is in the 5 mile range. Started out 8am ended about 1pm

This is a very nice hike, with places to sit on the way. Watch for snakes, of course.
