Well, crowded and overpriced. Went to the area for several years, there could be more or less apples, but crowded every time. Go to O'Dell'd Organic Orchard down the street for pears instead.

This is a very organized orchard. Rows are labeled clearly so you know what you are picking and it is large enough that, even though there may be quite a few pickers, you aren't stacked up on top of one another. Parking is limited. The trees are small enough that the fruit is relatively easy to reach. There are portable... More

Thanks for your review and we are glad you had fun. Please be aware that on the busiest weekends (Apple Days is coming!) we will open our gate on the West side of the orchard, and share the large field for parking with the Menghini Winery. So if you can return, drive around the orchard to the west side! More

We visited Volcan Valley Apple Farm on a Sunday afternoon. The area was busy but once in the orchard it didn't seem that there was many people around. We had little kids with us and they had a blast. I thought i was really cool, you get a bag to fill for $12 and you can also just eat apples... More

We are so pleased you enjoyed the Farm! We have more varieties ripening every couple of weeks, so we hope you can return. Next are the Fujis, Golden Delicious and Pippins. Yummy! More

This is a great orchard with many varieties of apple. We happened by early in the season. Apples were already ripe, as we have had little rain. The apples were excellent, and just slightly smaller than last year. I pray for rain! Come on El Nino! Everyone else had to pick the gravenstein, but I told her how much I... More

September 5, 2015. Our second year in a row for visiting this orchard and our third visit to this location. We took our family along with two other families who love picking apples as much as us! It has always been busy but never overwhelming. The apples are small because of the 4 year drought but they are enough to... More

This was one of the few apple farms with any apples left this weekend, but in some ways, what was left was not impressive. We spent at least 30 minutes searching and searching for a decent apple, but most of the apple trees we found had either rotten or heavily bruised apples or we're completely barren, not a single apple... We came to Julian for a day of apple picking and Volcan Valley Apple Farm was not our first destination. We looked at several of the apple farms and came back here and I am so glad we did. They had so many beautiful trees just loaded with apples. The people were friendly and helpful, they gave us samples of... More
