What a great spot for a relaxing flight or a nice glass of one of their delicious reds. Don’t forget a sangria, it’s delicious! Our wait staff was friendly and attentive as well.

I went for one thing, the Sangria, get a big red cup on ice. So refreshing. Has some relaxing seating out front.

Went on a Monday and was pleasantly surprised that they were open. I like sweet wines so I was prepared to not find to find anything. The lady at the bar knew just I needed. She explained that the sangria was an original recipe for the past 11 years. She gave me a sample and I was all in. Left with a growler (that needs to be drank within 3 days — not a problem!)
A definitely a must stop if you like sangria. And hubby left with wine he liked as well. Although small, plenty of seating outside.

As part of a recent trip to San Diego, my wife and I spent an overnight in the beautiful mountain town of Julian, California.
We first learned of Julian while on a search for tasting rooms of the Orfila winery in Escondido (we love their wine). The tasting room of that vineyard has since moved to Oceanside, but we decided to give the Blue Door a try, especially since it was right next door to our hotel.
What a wonderful experience. Cameron and Marc are terrific hosts, and their tasting patio is a lovely setting. But best of all, their wines are FANTASTIC! Marc is a winemaking genius!
A word of caution: if you drink "whites" and don't like "reds", don't stop. As of this writing, the Blue Door only creates red wines. But they are wonderful. Their Nebbiolo is wonderfully dry yet tasty. Their Super Tuscan (Cameron calls it "a knee buckler") is a taste explosion, and their Cabernet is wonderfully playful. Their Merlot is excellent as well.
In the mood for something sweet and refreshing? Stop in for a cup of their homemade Sangria, guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
At the end of a long scenic drive through the Cuyamaca Mountains, the Blue Door Winery will greet you with open arms and leave you feeling glad you came.

The owner and wine maker is extremely friendly and welcoming, I got a tasting and his wines are really good, the Syrah and the cabernet franc were my favorites.
Their sangria is delicious too but I happen to be there on a cold day. I would totally recommend it.

Not many places are open on a Monday in Julian. We were walking Main Street looking for a place to relax and grab a drink. Saw a sign that said " We're Open". YAY!!! It was a cute little winery tasting room off the main strip (even better). Due to Covid.. there was no wine tastings, only Sangria. Not complaining at all. It was HOT outside and a red solo cup filled with ice and Sangria was PERFECT. SUPER refreshing and yummy. Service was very friendly from Cameron. They have a few outside tables in a cute location. We enjoyed it so much we came back the next day for 2 glasses of Sangria 😊🍷.
Very adorable off the main road boutique style winery. Go check them out and enjoy a glass of Sangria out front.

Our second visit to the Blue Door Winery tasting room and yet again it did not disappoint… it’s up a side street in the little town of Julian and pours about six different reds along with their fresh made Sangria by the glass. We enjoyed each pour and managed to take several bottles home with us. Charming owner, Kameron, takes a lot of pride in her wines and shared her knowledge with us. A very informative and gracious host, what an enjoyable afternoon! We definitely will visit again!

We visited the Blue Door Winery on a very chilly December day, but still drank their "ice cold" sangria, because it is best sangria in the world! $8 per glass, so good. The owners and dog Oliver were so friendly and welcoming. We will be back!

We were lured in by the “Ice Cold Sangria” sign down the hill and were so glad we were. The sangria is delicious! This is a really cute place to just sit relax and take in the scenery. The owners were very friendly and even helped us find a place to sit. If we ever make it back to Julian, we’ll definitely be stopping in.
