Zach (our guide) went above and beyond. My friends and I had such a great time! We each got 3 climbs in (there was 4 of us) and he gave us the option to learn how to belay (for those who were unfamiliar with it). We got to the spot around 10 (met up/booked the trip to start at 9) and Zach gave us the full 4 hours of climbing that we booked. He was friendly, knowledgeable and really made for a great experience. The customer service is really great with this organization too-- they answered my emails about where to meet very promptly. Would definitely recommend and book again!

Booking was easy and all questions were answered quickly and efficiently via email.

We met our guide Stephen at their office. It's very clean and organized. All the equipment, shoes, helmets, harnesses, ropes, etc. are well maintained and extremely clean. They take all the necessary COVID precautions.

We followed our guide Stephen into the park. If possible, try and plan your climbing adventure as early in the day as possible during season, October through April, on weekends or holidays since there can be lines to drive into the park.

We were a group of 3 women. We had all climbed in Joshua Tree before and were all at different skill levels. Stephen took us to a beautiful spot that had various routes that had a lot of different variety in skills needed. He was very patient and provided great instruction. He knew all the ins and outs of the routes which was very helpful. He was also very quick setting up the anchors and ropes.

After we were finished, it was getting close to sunset so Stephen suggested we drive to Keys View to check it out and it did not disappoint. Keys View provides gorgeous 180 degree views of the Coachella Valley with the Salton Sea to the southeast and Mount San Jacinto towards the southwest with Palm Springs at it's base and all the cities in between.

Overall such a great experience. We definitely would recommend booking with The Climbing Life Guides and look forward to our next trip.

We all felt very safe and in good hands. My friend is planning on bringing her whole family out in the spring.

We had a wonderful day of climbing with Matt in Joshua Tree.  The main objective of our day was to transition our kids from indoor climbing to outdoor.  We have a 5 and 8 year old and they do really well indoors.  We were going to be in J-tree and this was the perfect opportunity to get them on real rock and Climbing Life more than came through for us.  They hooked us up with Matt, who turned out to be totally amazing with the kids.  He's got tons of rock experience, but more importantly tons of kids on rock (and the outdoors) experience.  He navigated some challenging situations with our kids really well.  I always felt like everything was done really well and really safe. My wife and I were able to get a few routes in as well.  He perfectly choose the right crag with a variety of routes for the kids to progress and with challenges for the adults.  We even climbed a bit longer than planned as the kids were somewhat slow and time consuming and Matt more than made up for it.  In the end, climbing with Matt was pretty outstanding, but if you were thinking about climbing with kids, he is the absolute man for the job.

My boss raved about her experience with The Climbing Life Guides, and highly recommend this company to me. I was not disappointed. I booked 4-hrs for two people (my 13-yo son and I). We met our guide, Luke, at Nelson’s (the owner) home office just outside of Joshua Tree NP. It took about 10 mins to gear up, and then we followed Luke in our own car into the park. He knows lots of locations to take people, and we ended up at “Playground”, where he set up four different courses. It was the perfect mix of difficulty and challenge for both my son and I, and the four courses got progressively more difficult (we are beginners). Luke provided an appropriate amount of advice / tips for us as we ascended. I realized this when another group joined us at the rock, and the more experienced person of that group basically told his friends exactly where to place their hands and feet. That takes all the fun out of climbing! Luke was knowledgeable, patient, and I alway felt safe under his guidance. My son and I had so much fun, and were thoroughly spent after those 4 hours. Money and time really well spent! Such an awesome experience!

Zack was an amazing guide! He has incredible knowledge of the park and was able to show us some of the classic routes in Joshua Tree. I was also able to learn some of the basics of anchor building and trad climbing with Zack. He was a great teacher and had seemingly endless knowledge about all facets of climbing. Zack was also really safety cautious which made me comfortable to push my limits climbing. 10/10 would recommend Zack and The Climbing Life Guides to anyone who is looking to have a great time climbing and learning in Joshua Tree.

Our family of four had a fantastic outing with Nelson. This was our first time climbing outdoors, after only 2 or 3 times climbing in a gym. Nelson was super friendly, very professional and knowledgeable, and made our boys (11 & 14) feel very comfortable. He pushed them just enough to push themselves and was a great coach for harder moves. Nelson was patient with our zillions of questions about climbing and Joshua Tree. We highly recommend an outing with Climbing Life.

My teenage son and I had a fantastic experience with Matt. He was patient, knowledgeable, and he made us feel really safe. We had never climbed before and it was on my bucket list. Once we'd had enough climbing he took us through a really cool cave which was a highlight. I will definitely recommend climbing with Matt to any of my friends visiting the area. Note that there is a cost of $30 to enter Joshua Tree. Also there is nowhere to stop within 15 minutes of the meeting location to buy water.

Super fun day rock climbing at Joshua tree with Nelson. We started at 6am getting all the gear at his office and then drove into the park. He was very informative and gave us helpful pointers while we climbed. There were 4 of us and we each got to climb four routes on a half day trip, which was plenty for us as it was pretty hot by 9:30. We finished around 10. Definitely book a trip with Nelson!

I'm an active gym climber, but this was my first time climbing outside and it was fantastic! My husband and I had the best experience with our guide Cezanne. He was very helpful as we transitioned from the gym experience to outdoors. He was friendly, approachable and understanding. He really listened to what we wanted to experience that day and he more than fulfilled what we were looking for. He had great solutions and provided us with an active, fun, and informative day. We got in a lot of climbs and learned a ton. We can't wait to go back and work with Cezanne again.

It was great! As a climber in a previous life it meant a lot for me to get my two boys up on a rock for the first time and Zack was the perfect person to do it. Sometimes a father can be seen as "telling them what to do"; Zack was the perfect instructor for them and I thoroughly enjoyed the way he interacted with them. They each got two climbs in and learned a little bit about Joshua Tree history in the process. My wife would tell you, if you were to ask her, that I was more excited to have them climb in Joshua Tree than they were. They loved it and the experience left them both wanting more.
