Best way for a family to experience Joshua Tree!!!

During a vacation to Palm Springs, our family of 3 college-age kids and 2 middle-age parents spent a half day climbing in Indian Cove section of Joshua Tree. We had a great day and an amazing climbing experience thanks to our 2 guides. Juggling a range of climbing experience and a range of athletic ability, our female guides were able to have all of us successfully complete 4 routes and the 3 "kids" finished 5. The two gals were knowledgable, encouraging, and possessed the perfect balance of helpfulness but not pushiness. I would highly recommend Cliffhangers for many reasons, including communication, management of expectations, flexibility (as we requested a last-minute change in timing), expertise, and most of all professionalism. A day of climbing is the perfect way to be together and experience Joshua Tree on a granular level. Every member of our family has remarked that the outing with Cliffhangers was the high point of the trip.

Great first time experience!

My husband and I spent a few days in Death Valley and next went on to Joshua Tree NP. We wanted to do something besides hiking and decided on rock climbing. We contacted Cliffhangers on short notice to see if they could take us out. Avery responded very quickly to say yes with an email containing all the information we needed. She was so welcoming and excited to make sure we had a great time. The next day was so windy we weren’t comfortable going out. No problem, they were able to reschedule for 2 days later. We met up with our guide Greg who was fun, professional, encouraging and passionate about climbing, JTNP and getting us first-timers up the rock while emphasizing safety. We are so happy we chose Cliffhangers for our first climbing experience . You will be, too. Don’t hesitate to contact them!

Exceptional learning and adventure experience

My wife and I spent 3, one half day tours with a lead guid Andy. Both of us were only indoor climbers and hoped to gain outdoor and lead climbing experience. Communication was excelente from our initial call until after we finished. Unlike other outfits we contacted cliffhangers and they only requested a modest deposit, and the balance after we finished, which gave us the feeling of mutual trust. Andy’s method of instruction, knowledge and encouragement made for an exciting yet safe environment to push us beyond our expectations. I can’t speak for other companies, but I don’t think there is any reason to look further, highly recommend!

Great experience. Jessy was an excellent guide. He was patient and encouraging to our two girls (7 yr olds) who were hesitant to try something out of their comfort zone. He provided clear instructions and kept the vibe positive and energetic. We highly recommend cliffhangers and will be booking again with them for our Joshua Tree trip.

Great family experience with Cliffhanger

Our family of four with no real climbing experience would highly recommend booking a climbing experience with Cliffhanger Guides in JTNP as we had a fantastic experience and memorable day. We had Daniel as our guide for the day, and Daniel was very experienced, supportive, encouraging and friendly, and made us all feel comfortable and safe climbing for the day. The climbing location that Daniel brought us to was really unique, as it was a short 5 minute hike from the road, yet was incredibly secluded as we didn't see or hear any cars or people the entire day we were climbing. Our family didn't have any really climbing experience, so our first goal was to feel safe on the rock, and Daniel was able to show us how everything worked, and was supportive of our climbing level, so that we felt really safe and felt comfortable climbing to the top of the climbs. We would definitely recommend, and book, with Cliffhanger Guides again as they have a very safe operation and took us to climbing spots that we're away from any crowds. Thanks again and was great meeting the guides at Cliffhanger.

Fantastic climbing on Christmas Eve!

We had a group of five climbers of various levels and experiences booked for a half day of climbing in Joshua Tree NP - and it was a fantastic experience! From the time we arrived on the morning of the climb, we were greeted enthusiastically by Cliffhanger staff. We found the staff at Cliffhanger Guides to be extremely positive and encouraging in their interactions with us. Seth, one of the owners, was especially accommodating as we had to deal with a fairly tight schedule and a rainstorm that cancelled our originally planned day. Seth himself led our group (on Christmas Eve no less!), and he and Bethan were able to expertly work with all of us, including the beginners (mom and dad) and also finding ways to challenge the more experienced climbers (our young adult children). Cliffhangers prepared a great and high-quality vegetarian lunch that exceeded our expectations. Overall, we can't say enough about how great Seth and Bethan were in making our first outdoor climb a special memory. We highly recommend Cliffhanger Guides to anyone of any level who wants to climb in Joshua Tree NP

Mental physics. The name of our climbing route couldn’t have fit more perfectly. Fear or insecurity sometimes limits what we can accomplish physically. The mental block is pretty powerful. We put our insecurities in the capable hands of Greg, our amazing, encouraging climbing guide in J Tree with Cliffhanger. He guided us through washes, over boulder scrambles, rappelling down cliffs and up the imposing granite climbs of Joshua Tree’s Wonderland. Couldn’t recommend Cliffhanger Guides more. Greg fulfilled all the abilities you would want in a guide… education, personality, encouragement, master photographer, confidence and most importantly safety minded. Cliffhanger Guides didn’t disappoint. Just book the full day and have fun!! 10/10 recommend!

Amazing first time outdoor climbing

The guides were amazing. They set up our group (parents and kids 6-11) with multiple routes from easy for first timers to regular weekly indoor climber (the 11 yo). Great advice throughout and we all accomplished many climbs. The pictures were amazing afterwards and many tourists stopped to ask how such small children were climbing the rock face. Great day!!

Best day ever

My teenage son and I spent a half-day exploring caves and rock climbing, pushing our comfort zones, learning about the plants and animals of the desert, and catching up with an old friend, our expert guide, Seth. It could not have been a more thrilling experience, while at the same time feeling safe and comfortable. Seth has an extremely effective way of communicating and encouraging, that would make anyone feel welcome, supported, and inspired. The super nutritious gourmet vegetarian lunch hit the spot, and covid-safe practices were observed throughout our adventure. Thanks a million, Cliffhanger Guides! What you have created in Joshua Tree is a gift to the park and to all of us lucky enough to visit! Cheers!

Best guide ever!

I generally don’t leave reviews but had a great experience with Cliffhanger Guides intro climbing half day with my daughter - our guide Greg was an amazing human - knowledgeable about climbing, nature, science, photography, travel, whiskey - can speak intelligently on any subject! Greg was super informative and supportive of these newbies and gave us tons of confidence. He’s the best kind of teacher as he gives you the “why” behind the “what”. Recommend +++
