This is a beautiful park, with stunning coastline trails. There are, apparently, miles of interior trails as well, but we found no source for maps there. There is no Internet or cellular service available. Campsites are spacious, level, and easily accessible with travel trailer. There...More

This large state park has several campgrounds, all with good sites. There are miles of great hiking and several lovely beaches.

Along classic Highway One. It is a must see, tucked in a little bay area with parking, bathrooms and great beach for relaxing.

We've been visiting the place for more than 15 years and find it one of the most gorgeous places in California. Especially, I'd recommend 4 miles round trip walk to the Stump beach from the Visitor Center. The views are amazing both ways. Strongly recommend...More

Salt Point State Park has some of the most intriguing geology in California: the "tafoni" structures, that resemble honeycombs in stone. They're all different sizes, in an array of colors, and at different angles. They apparently result from salt-based erosion I've seen them elsewhere (the...More

The area is beautiful to drive on CA 1 for sure, but be sure to stop. I would especially recommend a small hike on the overlook of Stump Beach Cove. The waves were crazy on the day we went, so we climbed out on some...More

My husband and I spent a whole day at the park. In the morning, we hiked a five-mile loop through the forest on the east side of Highway 1. It was a weekday in late September, and we did not see another person the entire...More

We camped in Salt Point State Park at the Woodside Campground Upper Loop this Labor Day. One car went ahead early to stake claim to two better campsites and the rest of the party showed up late in the evening. We really enjoyed the campground...More

Visited in late July. Hiked a trail close to the ocean. The rocky coast is never boring. We watched sealions sunbathe, crashing surf, looked into tide pools, and thoroughly enjoyed our day. Unfortunately the visitor center was not open. When coming from the South, be...More

It's hard to find good 1-2 hour hikes on the PCH (most of the good ones are longer). This is a good shorter one. The tafoni are really interesting and worth seeing.

I live in Mill Valley. From my home which is 20 minutes from SF Marina--over the Golden Gate. I go there regularly and it is about 1.5 hours. I go through Petaluma and then hit hwy 1. Lovely drive. Love it all!
