We visited this winery the other week and had a fantastic time. The ambience is great, they have amazing views of the Jamul area and ocean. And the wine is very impressive as well. My favorite was the Syrah, my friend's favorite was the Pinot Noir.

The drive out to Rustic Ridge from the west side of San Diego takes a leisurely 50 minutes, and once you get to Rancho San Diego, it’s actually quite beautiful as you head up the mountain.
We arrived at around 4:30, which turned out to be perfect timing - just before an amazing sunset. As a coastal native of San Diego, I thought I knew what a sunset was. But this view was different and seriously satisfying. The elevated perspective includes Mt. Helix, Dictionary Hill, Mt Miguel, and Mt Soledad as you look westward, as well as downtown San Diego, Mission Bay and Coronado Bridge with the ocean beyond. Fantastic!
Once seated, we were treated to a flight of 5 wines from Rustic’s vineyard. This included a delicious sauvignon blanc, a cab, pinot, rosé and a syrah. All were lovely, but we were surprised by the syrah - as we generally prefer reds.
Rusty and Kerri are amazing hosts. They took us on a walking tour of the entire property, including the vineyards. When we got back, we took a turn at both corn hole and Jenga while soft jazz played in the background.
You can tell that they love this place - their creation. The design and decor is charming - a gentle fusion of countrified sophistication and understated elegance. A manzanita branch pulled straight from the field hovers over the bar as a subtle reminder of where you are. You’ll see the headlights of vintage trucks (at least the front half of them) reconfigured as outdoor lighting, tastefully rustic signage, and other unexpected delights, all somehow perfectly accented by contemporary deep red umbrellas.
We highly recommend this new vineyard treasure to anyone - locals or visitors alike - who has yet to explore this part of SD county and it’s special charm.

One does not normally think wineries when one thinks of Highway 94. But one would be wrong. There are now six wineries in the area from Jamul to Dulzura. One of my favorites is Rustic Ridge. They are a boutique winery in the hills of Jamul. They have a really good selection of wines, from whites to reds, that are all excellent. You also can’t beat the view, which on a really clear day you can see the ocean. They also have a nice selection of winery food including pizza, charcuterie and other snacking food. Definitely worth stopping at.

What a special place only 30 minutes from downtown... the setting is rustic, yet charming. There are many fun details all over the grounds...The owners Rusty and Kerri have created a welcoming place to enjoy their tasty wines! The views are spectacular at anytime but especially at sunset!
They have 6 different wines and we liked them all.( bought them all too!!)
Definitely worth it! Call and book an appt or stop by during business hours.
We will be back soon for sure!!
*** Also its the perfect place to social distance safely and still feel like life is normal! Treat yourself to this wonderful experience. In this day of superstores and mega markets it’s a fun way to support small business this holiday season!!!

Wine tasting with a view at it's finest! Friendly, knowledgeable hosts. We did a tasting and purchased a bottle, stayed for 2 plus hours enjoying the wine, the snacks and the view! They are only open on weekends, but bonus, open until 6!
