About
Saku Brewhouse opened its doors on 18 June 2003. Saku Brewhouse has acquired its name after the name of the location – we are situated in the historical brewhouse that was built at the beginning of the 20th century on the banks of the Vaana River, where beer was made from 1909 to 1992. In the three-storeyed building of the brewhouse the pub-museum of Saku Brewery and seminar rooms are situated.

Travelled to the brewery Tuesday 6th November at 1400. Opening hours on the pub/museum door 1100-2200 so all good. Went upstairs to the bar area and there was nobody about but all the lights were on. After a few minutes a lady appeared from a door at the back of the bar and just shouted out, out, how did you get in here? We explained that door was open and according to your website and also on the door that you are open. Again she shouted out, out, we are closed then turned all the lights off and went out through the door at the back of the bar! A very bad advert for your brewery.

Interesting history, great beer tasting, average food

Visiting the Saku Brewery is interesting from an historical point of view as you learn a lot about Estonian brewery tradition. Also, we had the opportunity to see the production facilities, including a modern bottling plant. There is a restaurant where food and beer is served. The beer tasting is great, with several very different types of beer produced in the Saku brewery.

Guided tour to the history of the Saku brewery
Sep 2015
An excellent attraction near the city of Tallinn. Tells a story of the long history of beer brewing in Estonia. Guided walks take the visitors through the brewery. It is also possible to have a personal guide for small groups and at the end of the visit a beer tasting (different Saku beers with very good snacks) is available. Very good attraction as a surprise e.g. for birthdays etc.

Good view of a large bottling and canning plant, but little else (including beer)

Our party of five paid 125 Euros for a less than insightful trip around this large brewery and were given 10 bottles of beer between us at the end.

The guide confessed that they were not an expert or had detailed knowledge of beer production, but rather gave a background to what they had seen in political changes during her lifetime. This was all very interesting, but we really wanted to hear more about the process.

The food and service very poor
Apr 2015 • Friends
Have visited this pub several times during last 10 years and after last time, I will not order any food in future before either the restaurant owner, manager or chef has been changed. The ceasars salad, for an example, was not eatable at all, covered with minimum 35% fat mayonese and none of the ingredients were fresh. Would also not recommend the salomon with boiled vegetables. Nothing were fresh. The only thing I can recommend is the locally made beer and served only on site is the "Punane Parun".

Around 20min with Taxi from Tallinn. Friends of Beer must try this. Good local home-like food and good beer with reasonable price. There's no sign outside - just step in - through steel door from right side of Saku brewery building and take steps upstairs - and surprise.
