We stopped to taste some dates and buy a package of dates. Well displayed, lots of stuff, gardens to walk through out back for $5. Restaraunt and outside patio looked appealing.

This busy date farm is easy to find on Highway 111 with plenty of parking and wheelchair access. The sales room is large and crowded so we had to squeeze through the cash register lineup to get into the date area. Great variety of products. The film was interesting. Be sure to go out in the garden area. If you... More

The Shields Date Farm offers food, souvenirs, and history of the Date Farms and Date Palms that used to dominate this area of Coachella Valley. Now the Date Farms have moved to less populated areas but Shields Date Farm remains and serves what many call the best Date Shakes. For many, this is a must stop on any visit to... More

We stopped off at Shield's for lunch at the cafe. It has a very small inside space and larger outside patio. Wonderful atmosphere on the patio. I had never had a date shake before; I can see why so many people stop here for a shake. The date burger was good, except I wish the date was diced to spread... More

The date milk shake machine was in high gear when we visited. We didn't partake, but they seem to be very popular. We were there to buy dates (what a selection - unbelievable) and other souvenirs/gifts. Lots to choose from. You can also learn all about dates and how to produce them. This place has been here forever, because I... More

What a fun place. First we had delicious lunch on the terrace then moved inside to sample dates and watch the movie "Romance and the Sex Life of Dates." Decor has not been updated in years, so offers a nostalgic glimpse of years past. Before visiting Shields I did not appreciate this fruit and its place in California agriculture. I... More

Stopped in on a drive from Phoenix to Los Angeles to try my first date shake. It was delicious! Great stop - not far from Interstate 10, fast service, quick, easy and really good!
