I swear. Every beach area has the same shops. This just confirmed it for me. Weather you are in Mexico, Florida or elsewhere it seems like it attracts the same businesses. Which I... read more

I swear. Every beach area has the same shops. This just confirmed it for me. Weather you are in Mexico, Florida or elsewhere it seems like it attracts the same businesses. Which I guess makes sense. Obviously the prices are a little high. The shops are neat though and if you are into the surfer, beach culture this is where... More

Down town Huntington Beach is an eclectic experience. Particularly if you like surf lore and being around a lot of your people. At night unfortunately the bar trade rules and it a little hectic. Two blocks away is Pacific City an upscale center with high end restaurants and a interesting hotel the Pasea, with room that look out on the... More

This fun downtown area is ground zero of much of the California iconic lifestyle, driven by beach life, sun, sand, surfing and bikinis. Great surf shops and lots of fun bars and restaurants with the beach and pier highly accessible. Fun times every time I visit.

There are quite a few shops in this area. Some are great and some not so great. Everything is within a 4 block radius so once you park the car you can leisurely stroll around. Make sure to keep track of the parking meter cause the HBP are pretty vigilante. Don't spoil your visit by ending up with a parking... More

I guess I am old school. I lived there for 36 years and I miss the old flavor of how it was. They have modernized all the old buildings and built new ones. I guess I remember it as a child. To their credit, they host a lot of festivals, parade, runs, and contests. This is very healthy to the... More

With apologies to Santa Cruz, which also calls itself Surf City. While there's great surf in Santa Cruz, the weather is better for beachgoers down south. Downtown is usually crowded, full of nightlife for those so inclined. Parking is paid, but fairly cheap at either meters or parking garages. The latter has limited free parking, and there may be free... More

Love the sunset off of Huntington Beach Pier. We then go to the Thursday night street market on Main Street. Always a great time with local music and farmers market

It has a real beauty feel with multiple surf shops, occasional markets and of course an amazing taco place with cheap margaritas. Everything is in walking distance from the beach and the pier.
