I walked the Huntington Beach Pier one late afternoon. The view was amazing! There were people fishing off the pier....people strolling....shopping....and eating at the small restaurant at the tip. I can't wait to do it again

Old refurbished pier jutting out into the Pacific. Definitely take a walk to the end. There's a small Ruby's at the turnaround. Great place to congregate and catch events, especially in the summer months. fishing here is free.

The Pier is nice and long and the view is great. It is in great condition and is a popular walk on the weekend and can be crowded.

Besides vistas from the pier, it is amazing to watch surfers year-round and walk the main street complete with small shops and trendy eating areas.

Yesterday we visited Huntington beach and ate at Pie-Not. The pier view was very beautiful. Wide and shallow coastline on the backdrop of distant snow covered mountains, palm trees !. Wow, that was a fantastic view. A must see location.

Went here several times - sometimes on m own and sometimes with others. What a fun place to visit - even if it is only for people watching. See the surfers early in the day, noon and evening.

The Huntington Beach Pier is such a beautiful spot to stop and see a sunset. Watch surfing off the pier. Eating at Ruby's or just getting out for some fresh air.

Street or in parking garage across PCH. Turn onto the main street, go up one block and turn right, and about 150' down on right is a parking garage. Ruby's on the pier's validation doesn't work. But it's inexpensive as... More

Drive from San Diego up the coast (11 Replies)
Hi, my husband and I are going to San Diego from 6/29 to 7/7 - our son is a Marine there and we are staying at Marriott Coronado - one of the things we would like to do is drive up the coast one day and stop at restaurants, piers along the way. We thought we would drive north from San Diego. is the drive to Newport Beach and maybe also Huntington Beach pier too much for one day - we would be driving back to SD and not staying over anywhere. We also heard Laguna Beach is a great place to see....More

Yes, you can certainly do this in one day. If you want to do the cities you mentioned I would suggest getting on the 5 Freeway and exit at Beach Cities just past San Clemente. You'll be in Dana Point. There is a great marina there that you can walk around and see sea life. Then you can get back on PCH to Laguna beach. You can have lunch there and walk around. Laguna Beach is a neat city. Lot's of art galleries and shops. Get back on PCH and drive to Corona del Mar. Be sure to get off...More

Why aren't you down at the beach? (5 Replies)
What a difference a day makes. Day after Labor Day and I took my take-out lunch down to the beach south of the Huntington Beach pier. PERFECT beach weather, beautiful round surf swells. Empty parking lot and almost empty beach. A scavenger with a metal detector was trying his luck. A half dozen surfers headed out to the water. It made me wish I didn't have return to work. Yesterday, thousands of beach goers packed that beach shoulder to shoulder. If you don't have to be at work or school...More
