One of the leading wineries of the region producing some very good wines in a stunning modern winery with panoramic views of the countryside. Tour was OK taking in the region, the DOQ status, the winery, the barrel room and the surrounding vineyards. The stars of the visit were the wines and the opportunity to taste old vintages and special limited edition single varietal wines from vines >100 years old. Whites lacked finesse, but reds are very good. Doix one of the best examples of Priorat wines ever tasted. To me 1902 and 1903 the single varietal wines were good but do not justify the hefty price differential to the Doix.

Awe inspiring setting at the base of the Monsant Mountains with sheer cliffs staring you in the face and vines planted on treacherously steep slopes. Incredibly complex, concentrated delicious wines (Esp. 1903 & 1902). And passionate owner Vanlenti guiding our tasting. You may never find a more inspirational tasting room. Mas Doix makes wines that are out of this world. These wines rival and are as good or better than any wine from any other region of the world. DOQ Priorat is my favorite region in Spain and you won't find better Garnacha or Carignan anywhere in the world.

I have visited many vineyards in Europe. Unfortunately many have become very commercial over the last decades. Luckily some still stand out. I visiited Mas Doix in Priorat. Excellent location, excellent wines and an absolutely excellent host (Valenti, the owner), who gave a vey memorable winetasting. For info Valenti is fluent in English. Absolutely recommended. Late after noon visits will be adjoining by wonderful sunsets.

Blanca gave us a nice tour of the vineyard, winery and barrel room, followed by a generous tasting of the four current releases plus library wines of two. Wine is reasonably priced for quality. Tastings r pricy- so beware. Even with buying over 400 Euros of wine, we were charged 50 Euros per person for the tasting. Overall great experience, and fun to find the wine back on menu in Barcelona.

Mas Doix had the best wine we had in Priorat. Great views and a good tasting. Definitely add to your list of stops if in/around Priorat.

Book a few days in advance to ensure a tasting.

We visited during harvest and had a lovely tour and tasting with Blanca (excellent English, though we wish we could speak the native language to avoid the need). The tour of the production facility was so neat, as the workers were actively sorting, de-stemming, and crushing the grapes. The small cave in the rock for barrel-aging is also quite the feat. They produce ~4500 cases of wine per year (55,000 bottles or so), so I would consider them “boutique”.

We then went to taste 3 wines in an intimate conference room-like setting (note, other tasting and tour options are available on their website – this tour/tasting was 20 euros each). Valentin (general manager?) introduced himself and chatted with us for a couple minutes, which was very welcoming. The three wines were the Les Crestes (2016), Salanques (2015), and Doix (I believe 2015). Crackers and water were provided with the tasting. There is an obvious quality increase going up the line, but each was unique. The Les Crestes seemed to be slightly underripe and tart, which is not my preferred style, but likely would be great with food or after a bit more oxygen gets to it (~17 euros). The Salanques has a mix of fruit from younger and older vines and I felt was the best for quality-to-price (~33 euros). The Doix blend of Carignan and Grenache (~90 euros) was by far the best wine we tasted of the three, and one of the best on our trip. The fruit is from old vines (80 to 105 years old) with low yields.

The tour/tasting fee is not waived with purchase, although if you bought a significant amount they may waive it. They do export to the US, although it is expensive from Priorat no matter which winery you are at.

Overall, we really enjoyed this fairly short tour and tasting. While a bit expensive, it was very well put together and informative, and the wines were quite good. I would rate at 4.5 stars, with the only negative being cost of tour and cost of wine, as they were both a bit on the high end compared to most of the tours we did on our trip. If you enjoy vineyard tours, I’d suggest the tour we did plus the vineyard portion for just 5 euros more (25 each), or if you want to try some high quality wine (some library wine) then the 5 wine tasting might be a better, but more expensive option.

Here you can find one of the best wines in Priorat (and expensive). The head winemaker Sandra is a lovely knowing person making the visit by herself. During the visit you'll understand the pecularities of winemaking processes and taste beautiful wines. The facilities are small and tasting area is just a room with table and chairs but the place has a soul. You'll be surprised in a good way. Recommended.

We tested 6 different wines and ended up ordering two cases to be delivered home. The setup for the tasting was conveniently located next to the cellar and fermentation tanks. Our host knew her wine really well. We had six people tasting and all enjoyed every wine that was served. Some that we tasted were quite expensive, but we understand now why that's the case. Quite seldom you get to taste wine from so old vines. Tasting here works nicely with a lunch in the same village.

My wife and I booked a tour at Celler Mas Doix over the internet on short notice. It was just after the fall harvest season, so we were a bit worried about getting in, but they were kind enough to accommodate us. It was a short morning drive from Barcelona and this was our first stop on our way to Gratallops. When we arrived, we were greeted by our host, who showed us around the winery, explained the different processes to us, described the winery's history (fifth generation grape growers and first generation wine makers). Then, it was on to the tasting, during which our host told us she was not only our tour guide, but the owner of the celler and the head winemaker. She had lots of insights about the wines--all of which were delicious. Highly recommended.
