We visited the Family Wineries for a tasting on a Monday afternoon. We were fortunate to have Billie as our hostess. She and her husband own Lago di Merlo. Billie was so friendly and knowledgeable. You can taste any of the wines they have from 5 different local wineries. This was so much more fun by choosing from so many wines. Our favorite was Primitivo from Lago and Chenin Blanc from Dashe. This is a must do in the Dry Creek area.

This tasting room does it all! My husband and I are big fans of Sonoma wines and we go to all of the 17 appellations for wine tasting. In Dry Creek, our "Go-To" tasting room is Family Wineries. They represent 6 different wineries in one tasting room. All the wines are very good: Dashe Cellars, Lago di Merlo, Philip Staley, Mietz Cellars, Collier Falls, and Forth. We like the Zins and Italian varietals the best, but they have almost anything you could want. The wine club perks are better than most - and very flexible with the choices you can make. But the 2 wine room managers, Glenn and Shaun, make this place extra special. They can talk in depth about all of the 50 wines offered. They are generous with the tastings. And a bonus - Shaun tells great Irish jokes in an authentic Irish brogue:) Really a fun place. Good prices for delicious wines. I couldn't recommend it more highly.

OK, where else can you go to select to sample from more than 36 wines, including reds, whites, roses and even after dinner sweet wines? With 5 wine makers represented, that's the extent of the menu you get to select from. Knowledgeable staff, well priced wines and a funky tasting room with lots of other things to indulge in (think condiments, olive oils and vinegars, hand blown glass, etc) make this tasting room a great destination.

So many wines to try! Luckily the woman that was pouring for us really took some time to ask about wines we liked and spent some quality time working to give us a great experience. Wish we could remember her name!! We went to check out Dashe, which friends had turned us on to, but tried and purchased some beautiful wines. The tasting room had a lot of really fun stuff too! We bought some amazing bacon marmalade! The dogs were welcome on the porch and out at the picnic area! Everyone was very nice to the pups!
