Our son recently got married at Ru's Farm in Healdsburg, and it's the perfect wedding location during the month of October. Healdsburg itself is a lovely town with lots of good restaurants, nearby vineyards, and plenty of opportunities for hiking, biking, golfing, and more.

This Plaza is like the heart of Healdsburg connecting many fine offerings around its 4 sides and beyond what this quaint town has to offer. A gateway from A to B, a place to slow down, sit under the flower trees or by the fountain....More

It wasn't really hot but it wasn't comfortable either, and shopping with the GF makes it frustrating. Me man I hunt! So when it comes to shopping I let the GF go about her business while I look for peaceful retreats. The Healdsburg Plaza is...More

On Tuesday nights the city provides free concerts. Bring your own chairs and picnic or just hang out and dance. Lots of fun!

We so enjoyed this area of Healdsburg. There is always something going on, art, music, etc. and there are just blocks of quaint shops, restaurants, and wine tasting rooms. You can get anything from ice cream to Thai food to Mexican to coffee. There’s a...More

Terrific spot to relax after walking around Healdsburg. Lots of shade and grass and room for kids to runaround burn some energy. Also, a great spot to meet up with friends/family and plan the day in Healdsburg and surrounding areas.

The town and the plaza in particular is a tourist place with boutique stores, tasting rooms, bars, restaurants and of course new trendy hotels. It is upscale nice and the most enjoyable of towns in wine country,

Daily, thePlaza has shade, sun, water, seating, families, dogs, picnics. Summer Tuesday mornings host farmers market vendors and summer Tuesday nights host an always-packed concert. Get your dancing shoes on, bring a picnic and local wine, something to sit on and blend in with the locals.

This plaza is filled with shady seating and surrounded by lively stores. Live music is common as is farmers markets. This is a great town.

Probably not. The plaza has lots of events organized on the weekends including art shows. You'll need to run it by the City of Healdsburg and if you are selling your paintings you'll need to get a business permit.

Which neighborhood to rent a house in (9 Replies)
Hello, I am planning a family trip to Sonoma in September, and would appreciate any help on which neighborhoods to consider renting a house in. I've never been to California wine country and the sheer number of neighborhoods is a bit overwhelming. Currently, I have found houses in the following neighborhoods: Windsor, Healdsburg (looking at a house 2 miles from Healdsburg Plaza, one in Dry Creek Valley, and one on Fitch Mountain), Geyserville, Santa Rosa (five minutes from Ledson Winery),...More

Napa probably won't work for you. The few "legal" vacation rentals are in the city of Napa in residential neighborhoods, not in the country. In Sonoma County, Santa Rosa is the largest city in the North Bay. Windsor is a suburb of Santa Rosa. I have seen other travelers find vacation rentals there that they have liked. Windsor is very convenient to both Santa Rosa and Healdsburg and also the wineries in the Russian River Valley. It's in a highly populated area though. Healdsburg is...More

much delayed TR in prep for next trip (1 Replies)
this is being posted in part to assist in other people's questions on what is do-able for a week/few days in the area, and partly to prep for our upcoming trip as I am in full blown mode of trip planning- perhaps my second favorite thing to do besides playing with my pups... Hubby and I stayed in Windsor for a week 3/21-3/28 2009 via timeshare at Worldmark. It was our first time in wine country; we are active in our 50's (now he's in his 60's but no one else knows this but close family- he...More

Cycling in Healdsburg/Windsor area of Sonoma Wine Country (3 Replies)
We're thinking of staying at Windrose Cottages in Windsor. How is the cycling - to wineries, Healdsburg Plaza - i.e. traffic, roads, distances? We're casual cyclers, not particularly interested in major hills, rides more than 10-15 miles at a time, or scary traffic. Also, anyone have anything to share about Windrose Cottages? Thanks!

My husband and I had a wonderful trip to wine country and we stayed at Windrose Cottages. It was fantastic. It is out in the country, and very relaxing and peaceful. I highly reccommend staying there!! As far as the bike rides, I can't help you there. Sorry!
