Another wonderful event at our favorite winery. Setting aside that their wine is diverse and delightful (because, let's be honest, Healdsburg has some great wineries), you are left with what makes this winery stand out in a field of comprable 5 star wineries. The people. That is what elevates this winery above so many.

You walk in and are greeted by this dynamic husband and wife duo and their positively engaging and warm crew. They are eager to welcome you to the fold and tantalize your taste buds with the healthy line of their wines. Reds, whites, rose and their NEWEST bubbly! Each has a history and a story from the grapes to the name. These are more than just grapes to this family, they are history, they are riveting and you will be swept away, hanging on every word!

Then there are the pickup parties and the tasting parties... again, here is another level on which they are elevated. Most tasting are a set in stone menu, little to no variations. Here, you have this culinary genius who pairs each course to highlight the wine to perfection. As the bottles age, the flavors subtly change, and as the seasons change, so does the flavor and quality of the food. A set menu today may not showcase the same as it would in a month. So, one could go pairing several times a year and be met with more insight to the winery and the family, and a different custom pairing each time!

So, to recap... wonderful wine. Hands down my favorite over Sbragia, Trattoria, and many others. They take their passion for wine and life and invest that in everyone who walks in the door. It is not about drawing in another wine member, it is about bringing in more people to be a part of the Sapphire Hill family and sharing what they love!

And I am hooked!! Give them a try and you just may be as well...

Don't forget to pair your favorite red with their famous chocolate truffle, drizzled with their salted caramel sauce!!

We've been club members for a couple years now and would recommend this club to everyone who loves good wine. They have an amazing selection of wines and the giant bonus of super fun pick up parties with scrumptious food. It's great being part of the Sapphire Hill family!!

This is a wonderful small winery that produces very good wines. The staff is very friendly and helpful and there's usually some good food around to try with your wine tastes. Most of their wines go to the wine club members so, if you try something you like, you better buy it. You might not get the chance to buy it later. We have many wine clubs but this one is our favorite by far.

Visited Sapphire Hill Winery as our first stop on a 3 day wine tasting adventure in Healdsburg. They set the bar very high not only with their fabulous wine but their customer service! Mary was an excellent host. We truly enjoyed our visit and I would highly advise stopping by Sapphire Hill!

Lisa and Chris are the most gracious owners/hosts! We look forward to the food and wine pairings they offer when we pick up our wine club shipment. Food is always delicious and brings out the best in their wines. Such a great service for us who don’t know how to do pairings.

We had the 5 course wine pairing. This is a special program that Sapphire does and requires reservations well in advance.
Lisa walked us through the dishes and wines, course by course. She was funny, knowledgable, and informative...all while serving 12 of us. We started with a lovely Bosc pair salad with candied walnuts and Gorgonzola cheese. Flavor a melded well with a red moscato that was appropriately on the dry side.
Second course was a whimsical grilled cheese and tomato bisque, paired with a nice Gewurtztraminer. The crusty texture of the sandwich dipped in the bisque was wonderful, perhaps my favorite dish. Lisa next brought out a rustic chicken cacciatore on a bed of polenta served with a couple of deeper and dryer reds. Next was a pulled pork with slaw served with their Porky red, which is a sweet red. This was a little too sweet for me as I find pulled pork often is too sweet and then the wine served amped up the sweetness even more.
Last dish was a lovely brownie with a touch of cayenne to accentuate the chocolate and surrounded by caramel. Really nice. A sweet dessert wine was served which was quite nice.
In sum, this is well prepared food, presented nicely and provides a lovely vehicle to showcase Sapphire's wines. Lisa was a great host. I joined their wine club and look forward to their offerings.

We had a wonderful time at the Wine Club pick-up party. The food was great, as usual, and the whole gang were their usual welcoming selves. Mary kept us smiling while Chris kept us fed, thanks to Lisa's efficient kitchen.

In keeping with owner/chef/hostess Lisa's love of tunes banged out on wine bottles, I couldn't help but think of the iconic song about Blueberry Hill. While Fats Domino found love under the moon, we found bliss in the barrel room. Our group of six joined ten other wine/food lovers and spent the afternoon charmed by Lisa, Chris, Mary and the five courses of sumptuous bites and sips. Lisa threw in five extra tastes in between food courses "just cuz", or because she couldn't decide which wine best brought out the flavors in her culinary delights, We started with an amuse bouche featuring caramel corn and cheese/raspberry cracker, From there we devoured a beet salad, tomato bisque with Harvarti cheese toast, and orrechette with peas and sausage. Thinking the pasta was the main entree, we were surprised by chicken cacciatore simmered in a crock pot with a scoop of fine polenta. The final dessert course was a chocolate brownie dipped in caramel served with two wines so we could decide which was the best match.
All of this wining and dining is done in between "Name that tune" games, promising discounts on wine for right answers. As Lisa took a knife to a wine bottle, our table shouted out the right tunes and qualified for a 30% discount. Of course when one of our friends joined the wine club we were all extended a 50% discount!
Can't think of a better way to spent the day than in the barrel room at Sapphire Hill, there's no thrill quite like it.
