Just off the beaten path in Dry Creek is the unpretentious and unassuming tasting room for Peterson Winery.
Fred and has son have been growing/making great wine for a while now.
The service and atmosphere in the tasting room match the approach in the winery.
Inexpensive wine very well made. I've put their $30 Cab and Syrah against big name wines at twice the price and Peterson always wins.
Check this place out and become a friend of Fred.

We've been visiting Peterson Winery for years, and it always feels like coming home. The winemaking is taken seriously with an old-fashioned European approach. Their AgRaria Wine is a favorite, nice to know that the taste comes from great grapes and skill, not chemical mixology. But everything else is tongue-in-cheek and puns abound, be prepared for some interesting artwork and labels!

I was able to find a deal online for the tasting experience and I am glad I used it. The wines were very good and the man and woman hosting duo were knowledgeable and provided great conversations. The tasting included at least 6 different wines and also we were able to taste the wines prior to fermentation (Very good grape juice lol). The owner even stopped by and we were able to go on a tour of their operations. Walked away with a couple of bottles and a coaster. Would highly recommend!

My husband and I did a wine tasting at Peterson after a family member recommended it and we loved it! Bought 2 bottles and the staff there was so nice. We were on a road trip and she gave us great traveling advice and good recommendations for places to eat in the area.

We've been coming to Peterson for years, and are wine club members. We have them ship our wines, and just purchased many cases at their annual Open House sale. We come out and taste here every year when we visit northern Sonoma.
The winery and tasting room are part of a complex of a number of other small wineries on a hill overlooking Dry Creek Road. There are shared picnic tables and a bocce court there, with gorgeous views of the valley below.
We've always had a great time in the tasting room—the staff is knowledgable and helpful, and we've never felt hurried there. Several times we've met the owner and grower, Fred Peterson, and/or the winemaker (Fred's son Jamie) while tasting there. As is usual, I believe there's a small fee for tasting (refundable if you buy any wine), but as tasting's free for club members we've never had to pay.
We love their wines, and find them very reasonably priced, especially for the quality. They make a fairly wide range (mostly reds, but a few whites and one rosé), but I especially love their Zins. Their incredibly affordable Dry Creek Zin is Rhone-ish, and goes well with a lot of food we cook. Their Tradizionale is a field blend, and to me is what a Dry Creek Valley Zin should be: deep, blackberry fruit, some pepper, sort of an ur-Zin. Their Bradford Mountain Zin is quieter and more subtle, with a very long finish: a Zin that thinks it's a Cab. It's a great red meat wine.
They do many more varietals and some great blends, so go there and taste for yourself. All their Bradford Mountain wines are from vines on their property by the West Dry Creek Rd (across the valley), and they are extra special.

We really enjoyed our visit to this little, family-owned winery in Dry Creek Valley (a short ride from downtown Healdsburg). Eric was an excellent host. He has a good sense of humor, is outgoing, and really knew the details of each wine poured. All of the reds were seriously tasty and enjoyable. We learned that the winery doesn't do any manipulation of the grapes or wines during the winemaking process. That's pretty unusual these days. And it makes for delicious wines!
OK, the wines - none were too oaky which, for me, is a good thing! I'd rather taste the grapes in the wine and not chocolate or coffee notes from heavy use of oak. The wines will be excellent with food because, in addtion to layers of flavors, they have some nice acidity (they're not flabby) and balance.
It was a great experience in a nice little tasting room. I highly recommend checking out this diamond in the rough! Cin, cin.

Stopped here for some bubbly tastings. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable. The tastings are generous in nice glass wine glasses. The interior is very tastefully done. There is an adjoining Oyster Bar which also serves great coffee. I loved this place and purchased a few bottles of wine as well as a lovely Muscat.

We were at an event in Healdsburg and met Emily Peterson. She was delightful so the next day we had a free hour, and we stopped at the tasting room. Danny became our friend in 30 short minutes, and we became part of the (wine club) family. We have been to the Valley multiple times and while we sometimes enjoy the high brow places, we truly treasure the places where we feel like family. Last night we opened their 100% Sangiovese and wow, oh wow! You won't go broke buying these wines either. See you guys this fall! Danny get ready, We're bringing some friends next time.

We stopped at Peterson Winery on a visit to Sonoma County and we are extremely happy to have done so. We met our sommelier Danny, who educated us on the variety of wines, the vineyard, the history of the area, and much more. We found Danny to be extremely knowledgeable but most of all he treated us like old friends, like we were part of the family. Needless to say we are looking forward to visiting again and spending time with our new friend.

We stopped here while looking for another winery that was closed. So glad we stopped, the lady inside was friendly and informative. We loved the wines and my daughter got a kick out of the labels. A gem on the ride.
