    Excellent tour, nice wines
This is a wonderful vineyard that my parents went to for many years. A friend was visiting from out of town so we went here. It's one of the few vineyards that still offers tours and tasting free of charge. Our guide, Mark, was full of interesting information about the history of the Alexander Valley and the winery itself. All over, a thoroughly pleasant experience, enhanced by two bottles I purchased for later enjoyment. Thanks to the winery for their hospitality.

    Loved this place!!
The drive up the lane to the winery was beautiful. Lots of grapes on the vines. Perfect pictures. We arrived and did the complimentary wine tasting. I then purchased a glass of wine for the cave tour. The cave tour was so informative, loved it!! I felt like I learned so much more about the wine & history of this place. Great wine!! Hoping we can find the wine in PA.

    Wonderful Visit to AVV
The staff at AVV was incredibly accommodating during our time at the vineyard. We were able to taste through their wines and walk the grounds of the vineyard. I'd asked about the caves and someone from the tasting room jumped at the chance to show them to me! It was overall and wonderful experience and I can't wait to go back.

    Must visit in Alexander Valley!
Remarkable wines and remarkable people! The Wetzel family and their team are incredibly gracious hosts who with winemaker Kevin Hall are making world class wines! A stunning labyrinth of caves carved into the hillside. A must-visit when in Northern Sonoma!

    An experience we’ll never forget
What an incredible experience at Alexander Valley Vineyard! This was a trip we will never forget and have been sharing pictures with our friends and family since our stay. We enjoyed the beauty of the property, and had a thoughtfully curated wine tasting, followed by a tour of the wine caves. My husband and I had the opportunity to spend the night in their charming 1860’s schoolhouse, which is in the middle of the vineyard, surrounded by their farm and stunning views. It was a surreal experience. The staff at AVV, blew us away with their genuine hospitality and will be a definite destination for us on our returning trips.

    Superb visit to AVV!!
We had an exceptional visit and lunch at Alexander Valley Vineyards. The gardens, the caves, the wines, the lunch, the people were all superb. I do justice in words to what a lovely time we had. I went with my colleagues from the Collette Board. We had a tour and an incredible lunch with Hank and Linda Wetzell. Thank you AVV for taking such good care of us!

Great wine, relaxing atmosphere at AVV winery in Healdsburg!
We had a wonderful tasting experience at Alexander Valley winery. Our server was excellent in describing each wine and the its nuance. We were able to bring in our own picnic lunch and enjoyed the scenery as we ate on the exterior porch around the tasting room. We highly recommend a visit to AVV!

Denise had everything ready and waiting for us when we arrived. our outside table was set with 6 lovely tastings and she brought us a few extra tastes when we wanted to try some other things. the setting is lovely, and Denise is knowledgeable and personable. All the wine here is competently made and the prices are reasonable considering you are surrounded by the most famous vineyards in Sonoma.

Alexander Valley was the best winery experience I have ever had (I live in SF and frequent this area so that says a lot!) not only were the wines incredible but the service, atmosphere and rich history of the soil amplified the tasting. We visited for a friends birthday which they included a sign for and decorations! Tim was our host and he provided over the top service explaining each wines flavor profile, what his favorites were and history about the Alexander family. There were 7 of us and we all chose our own tastings which sampled grapes from all over the taste scale and none disappointed. Will absolutely be coming back!!! Thank you Alexander Valley vineyards!!

We really enjoyed our trip to Alexander Vineyards last week while visiting Sonoma Valley. AV is located in a picturesque valley outside Healdsburg that lets you know they grow and produce great wines onsite. We tasted some great wines Bordeaux blends and also including their Sin Zin which is outstanding and a great value, proving that not all good wines are expensive. Denise and Tim (on the cave tour) took great care of our group and were great fun. We look forward to the shipment and tasting these great wines.

It was a great day at Alexander Valley Vineyards! I went on the vineyard hike with Mark as our guide. He did great. Mark knows his wine and the vineyard. He was very approachable for questions and made everyone feel welcome. It was such an enjoyable tour and it was nice to sample the different wines as you made your way through the vineyards. Given the current safety measures, Mark and everyone at AVV did a good job of keeping the number of visitors limited and keeping them spread out. I felt very comfortable while visiting and, of course, while enjoying the wine.

I was already a big fan of AVV before this visit, but I am an even bigger fan now!

Alexander Valley Vineyards is one of the most historic vineyards in Alexander Valley. It traces it's roots back to Cyrus Alexander who founded the Alexander Valley in 1841. Since 1841, the property has been owned and operated by only two families. Their wines are some of the best we have tasted and are affordably priced. And the staff are the best. This should be a "must visit" on anyone's trip to Sonoma County wine country.

We found this true gem using our Priority Wine Pass. Our interest in this winery was the Bordeaux blends they have on their reserve tasting. We started out on their regular tasting menu and we surprised at how much me liked their Gewürztraminer. It's perfect for a warm day on the patio (not overly sweet like most). But when we got to the reserve tastings (WOW!). We can not say enough good things about the Bordeaux blends they have there. We ended up heading home with a few bottles to add to our collection. As the winery was pretty busy, we had a couple of servers and both were excellent. We also added the small cheese tray option they have there. (recommended if you will be doing a full tasting) This winery is a real treat and I highly recommend this for your next visit.

The drive leading to AVV is gorgeous, we drove coming from Napa and there is a difference is the landscape closer in Sonoma.
Tasting room is somewhat refreshingly old school, Tom gave us a great tasting and totally read our level of how much we wanted to be told, as well as how much we wanted to just taste and enjoy.
The caves are keep going and it is a great experience coming form warm into cool caves.

I recommend walking the vineyards and staying for a bottle on the porch, we enjoyed the Rose 2021, perfect for a summer day. Overall highly recommend and take time to relax and enjoy the experience.

This was our third visit in the last 2 years and, based on our previous experience, we specifically asked for Mark to be our host. We were a group of 6 and we had a delightful time.
Mark has a great combination of attentive service and non obtrusive involvement. He is quite knowledgeable about all the wines available at AV and he presents information in a way that makes sense to his guests.
The AV wines are a real bargain. Without exception we found the wines to be well made, balanced, and representative of the Alexander Valley.
Our favorite is the Cyrus label (Bordeaux blend) red wines. We tasted 3 vintages and together we purchased 2 cases. These are big red wines that are sold at a great price.

Another great trip to Alexander Valley Vineyards. Our group of 4 visited the Vineyard in 2019 and the same group returned June 2022. Each time we visit AV, we always leave saying “it was even better this year”.

Great time outside on porch (inside is available) enjoying many of the AV wines and the beautiful weather. Denise was our host and as always, she did a wonderful job sharing the history of Cyrus and Wetzel family. It’s obvious she and the staff is considered part of the Wetzel Family as most of them have many years invested at the Vineyard. Although we didn’t anticipate a cave tour, Denise was a trooper and eagerly lead us on the way with glasses in hand. The caves are a must, always a treat and super special to spend time walking and admiring the work that goes into making great wine. Lots going on at the winery, we had the opportunity to see additional growth happing on the vineyard as they were drilling another cave.

Katie Wetzel was leaving for an event but stop to speak and spend some time with us. Great conversation from sports to wine.

Many thanks to Katie, Denise, and Tim, we had an amazing time with you. Until next time!

Alexander Valley Vineyards is a great place to go for wine tasting. The service is amazing. Denise is the tasting manager and she really provided first class service to our family which included my 21 year old and 12 year old sons. Since my 12 year old couldn't drink, Denise had the table set up with a cup of water and a word search puzzle to keep my 12 year old occupied. My 21 year old really enjoyed tasting all the different wines. AVV has a wide variety of wines for tasting, including some with 97 point ratings. The outdoor seating is very nice. The vineyard is located a bit further away from all the other wineries, but it is definitely worth the drive for great wine and great service.
