It's always a spectacular time at AVV! The combination of a great variety of solid Alexander Valley wines to try (love the Redemption and the Cyrus), idyllic, quiet country scenery, and really really nice people make it top shelf. The property is beautiful, picnic tables make it a great place for a snack mid-day, and the wine-cave tour is really cool if you get the chance. You will be coming back for more!

The wines were good, and it was neat to hear about the history of the area from the staff. However, when we first arrived, we were not allowed to stand in the shade of the patio and had to stand in the direct sunlight and heat for about 10 minutes with no shade while they prepared our tasting, which we had booked a month prior and arrived to on time. Then, we had to sit on the patio (understandable due to COVID-19), but there were four available tables, and we were sat at the only table in direct sunlight despite there being two other tables in complete shade available. After a few minutes in the 90 degree heat and direct sunlight, we were not able to enjoy any of the warm red wines that we were supposed to taste. There was also a wasp infestation on the eaves of the patio where we were seated, and we had to dodge yellow jackets our entire tasting. All of these setbacks seem like they could have been easily preventable with a bit more forethought from the staff.

We really enjoyed this experience. It’s a beautiful walk full of great information and great wine! Our guide was very friendly and knowledgeable. She answered all of our questions, offered to take pictures of us, and taught us a lot about the vineyard. The lunch afterward was yummy and comes with a full pour to accompany lunch which is an added bonus. Overall, this was a great value. We got an insider look into Alexander Valley Vineyards and we learned a lot about both the vineyard and the Valley. We will definitely be recommending this to friends and family. Thank you, AVV!

What a surprise. We always thought Alexander Valley was a super large vineyard and winery. They aren't and their tasting room gives off the perfect funky, small vibe that pairs well with their wines. Additionally, you can order hand made, on location pizzas that pairs with their wines. Super fun.

Glad you came out and visited us. To celebrate California Wine Month we offered Pizza & Wine on two Saturdays in September 2020. We are considering offering it again, but the Pizza & Wine Tasting is not a regular part of our Tasting Room offerings. Once Covid restrictions are lifted we hope to again offer additional Tasting Room experiences, until then we will continue to offer seated Estate & Reserve Wine Tastings by appointment. Thanks again for your visit - glad you had a great time!
