I took my ten year old granddaughter and 10 year old grandson for their first horseback rides with the 1.5 hour trail and beach ride. It was an exhilarating and beautiful experience. Everyone, from the lady who signed us in, to the guides that rode along with us, was very friendly and helpful. I originally purchased two Groupons for this experience, but because my husband has a back injury, he was unable to go so we decided I would take these two grandchildren. The Groupons were purchased prior to the pandemic outbreak, and expired before we could use them, but when I went online to pay full price, I only had to do so for one ride. They gave me credit for the Groupons purchase price paid. Prior to going, I read some of the negative reviews here, and because I am a travel advisor, I wanted to take the ride myself prior to recommending the experience to my customers. I must say, the experience we had was nothing like those negative reviews! It was wonderful! We were introduced to our horses, which were beautiful and apparently well taken care of, and learned their names prior to the ride. I even learned how my horse came to be named Tardy - it was a fascinating story that would make any mother who's ever carried a baby beyond the due date shudder! We were instructed on seating for the best and safest ride, use of the reins to guide them, how to talk to the horses, and reward them with a pat on the neck for their response to our commands. Then, during the ride, the guide gave us tips to get a lagging horse to speed up. The tall trail grass was a very tempting snack for a couple of the horses, and the guide told us how to keep them from snacking. Not only that, but I appreciated how conscientious he was about keeping the individual groups together - not separated by other riders. This resulted in our being able to communicate with each other, and some great pictures. I bought the flash drive with all 167 pictures taken of my grandchildren and me on it for what I considered a very reasonable price, and the photographer assured me that if I corrupt it or lose it, he'll send a replacement. Great service! My grandchildren had such a great time, they want to go back again. Everyone in the group we were in seemed very happy with the experience. I know we certainly were. I will definitely recommend this beautiful experience to my customers.

I've never posted a review before and I've had some great experiences and some decent but I feel like I have to do this because I don't want anyone to experience the extremely poor service here . I won't include everything that happened for me to feel this way but I'll give you a general idea to keep this brief and save myself some time writing this. All the way from booking an appointment to the actual ride, the service stinks in the worst way possible. Firstly, they never answer the phone to take appointments and check availability so you just have to do it on the website and would only get appointments months on end. I went there today with my brother. When we get there, they welcomed us by yelling at us that we entered the gate into the ranch for our appointment when we should've waited for them to tell us to come. As I am getting on my horse, the guy leading says to me for no reason "you good man?" I was confused and knew it wasn't going to be great but I wasn't expecting what ended up happening. On the actual ride I contemplated getting off the horse and leaving the whole ride countless of times. The guy leading the ride kept yelling at me and my 10 year old brother the whole ride. He wouldn't let us be in front because he wanted 4 girls to be in front and "keep the family together" and he was giving them special treatment for some reason when I seemed more experienced than and simply wanted to make worth of my $90 by riding a little faster and leading. The guy kept yelling at us for the smallest move and made my little brother terrified by even snatching the tack from my brother while he's on to demonstrate how to stop the horse. This is my brother's first time riding and this guy yelled at him for everything the horse did and diminished my brother's excitement for riding. At one point we got to the beach with endless space and I got my horse next to my brother's to help him and this guy came to me yelling and said I have to be within the single file line or he'll kick me out of the horse and make me walk back. I asked if we can go a little faster since the 4 VIP girls at the front are going extremely slow, he refused. As we are riding back I simply just cooperated just to let me brother get whatever enjoyment he can out of it but the guy still continued to harass and bully my little brother. When we arrive I try to get off my horse but he comes to finish and yells at me saying I have to wait to assisted (I've ridden horses many times so I don't need assistance) but what really got to me is that he cussed me out to the other guy in Spanish thinking I won't understand. Moral of the story, please please don't go here. The group on coupons are NOT worth it. This place they don't care about you experience, the horses or about you enjoying it, their whole model is squeezing out as much money as possible from people by doing Groupon, fitting as many people as possible each ride, giving terrible service and taking away your phone just so they can get pics of you and charging you $60 for you to get them. Literally the worst customer experience I've ever had not just in horseback riding but EVER in any industry. If you're looking for a place to go riding near the bay Point Reyes Arabian Adventures is amazing I've been there a couple of time you'll learn so much and enjoy every second of the ride plus there they take care of their horses and feed them well whereas here the horses seem to be hungry, tired, not trained well and probably abused for the money.

First of all I never write reviews but this experience was so terrible I have to let other people know. My girls ( 7 and 9 ) and mostly myself (I have had and ride my own horses for more then 10 years!!) felt very unsafe with how the horses were taking care of (no grooming, terrible mouthpieces and broken equipment!) and how fast the trip started without checking the gear properly and if everyone was feeling comfortable and safe. My horse even had some tight rope from his mouthpiece to the saddle to control him, that’s not a horse friendly way in my experienced opinion. We didn’t even walk the horses around to get used to them before leaving on an hour and a half(!) ride. It all just felt very rushed and because of that things were unclear and our kids and myself felt really unsafe. Everything was so chaotic! There was no time to take care of a child that panicked, that’s not the way you treat scared kids. I’m happy we had more good experiences with horse riding before today. My girls would never get up on a horse again otherwise. Just a very irresponsible and unsafe experience. Any horse loving and animal respecting person should no go here.

I love this place. The location for this ride is so stunning. You get a mix of trails near the beach – and if you sign up for the 2 hour ride, you ride on the beach. The staff is friendly and helpful too. If you are fond of a particular horse you can request riding that horse again and if available, they will accommodate. They have a "no carry-on policy" meaning you must leave phones, food etc... in your car. It's understandable – if a customer tries to take photos with a phone, the distraction or dropping a phone could create safety issue. First two times visiting, the chaperones took photos for us with their phones for free (we tipped more because we felt this was a nice extra). 3rd ride a photographer was present which meant photos had to be purchased. It's great for families, friends, or work teams. I'm impressed with their COVID safety measures – masks and gloves are required the entire time.

As many of the reviewers already said, the staff is rude, the horses are unkempt and look miserable, equipment is old and shoddy, the ride isn't well planned. The elderly lady who who 'greets' the guests is rude right out of the gate. Quite possibly because the place operates at 110% capacity, and she is running it alone, but nonetheless. The place feels like an industrial factory, rather than a leasure/vacation spot. Even with 30 minutes leeway to get ready, there was a mad dash to get everyone onto a horse. The group is large- probably close to 20 people, with two handlers. It was a mess. In the end my horse's reigns and stirrups were poorly adjusted for my height- making the ride uncomfortable, making me lose my balance multiple times, and losing the reigns at one point. The handlers are quite rude, and in my opinion create an unnecessary risk. they yell at the humans in broken english, and are annoyed when you dont' understand them. I came close to full on panic when the ride started from all the yelling, losing control over the horse.. They are nicer to the horses than to the people on them. however half-way into the ride, they lost all interest in the people or horses, such that a girl with a slow horse in front of me couldn't make the horse cooperate, leaving her and myself behind the rest of the group, but the handler who stopped doing anything at all to help after a couple early tries. The ride to and from the beach is quite long, taking up the majority of riding time. On the beach itself- it's a very short loop, with enough time to get some photos snapped, and then head back. Oh, and since no personal photo equipment or cell phones are permitted, and no time is budgeted to stop and take photos, there is a 'professional' following the group with a camera. The photos are then $60 for a flash drive- there are probably 10 photos per person on there. Such a ripoff. The horses are dirty and miserable - they look like they haven't been groomed in a while. The saddles and stirrups are old, and kind of falling apart- not in a dangerous way, i suppose, but enough that it's unpleasant. overall, the best thing i can say about this, is that we really wanted to go to the beach on horse-back- that happened. but the experience was nerve-wracking and unpleasant rather than enjoyable.
