Buy bottles only sold at the vineyard.
Every time we come to California pre Covid, we always come to Korbel. We loved the tour & the gardens. However, there was no tour of the gardens since it was winter. There are no tours of the winery now. The tasting was in a dark & dreary large room that was not very inviting - not the usual tasting room. Bathrooms are a good 5 minutes’ walk away back down a steep flight of steps. Pay for the $15 tasting as they serve the premium champagne. Pros: Buy the premium champagne only served at the winery. We love the rouge champagne & you can only buy that here. That is the major reason why we came – to buy this. Armstrong redwoods state park nearby which is outstanding. Go have your picnic lunch there. Staff were very nice. Cons: No walk ins at all for a tasting. You must make a reservation. They were only opened from Thursday- Sunday for tastings in early December. All the champagne was poured at once. We would have preferred one glass at a time to keep the bubbles fresh. No picnics allowed on the grounds at all since they have their own deli. I absolutely hate this policy & think it demeans Korbel. If I buy a glass of champagne or spend money buying bottles of champagne, why shouldn’t I be allowed to eat my own lunch as many other wineries allow? Definitely worth the trip
We arrived for our 10:30am tasting and quickly realized their was an 11:00 am tour. They changed the reservation for us. Hillary was our tour guide and was amazing. She’s knowledgeable, witty, friendly and down to earth. She kept us laughing while learning so much history about the Korbel family. The tour is an hour, you watch a quick clip of their history, tour a room with thousands of photos, go into the cellar, through a museum of equipment and finally the tasting. We tasted 3 of their estate champagne’s and Le Premier is amazing. They have a great veterans discount. We’ve driven by so many times and I’m glad we finally stopped. We’ll definitely visit again.

Delicious Sparking and Still Wines...And Brandy!
Korbel was the highlight of our trip to wine country. It's like stepping back in time, the history is amazing, we learned so much about the area on the tour. The tasting was excellent too as they offer both sparkling and still wines, some only available to buy onsite which was a treat. Buy a bottle and take it to the deli where they have delicious salads, sandwiches, sides, etc. Highly recommend, do not miss this stop when in Sonoma County!

Well, we sadly drove about an hour at $7/gallon of gas for this experience and found it to be underwhelming if not just cold. The woman who "greeted" us at the desk was unfriendly and quite frigid in terms of welcoming. The tasting room was very dark and gloomy. Fortunately our tasting guide Itzel (from Panama) was excellent and sort of made up for the reception we received when we arrived. However the tasting was not that interesting. The bathrooms are in a different building; down steep stairs and across a parking lot. Odd as people are drinking and many looked elderly? The Korbel Marketplace was touted as wonderful but we found it to be inefficient and not so hot. Oh well; cheap tasting so you get what you paid for!

The Korbel property is simply beautiful! There is a lot of history here and it's obvious they spend attention to detail to keep it looking so grand.

They have a complimentary tasting of the popular bubbles you can find in most any store. I figured that was what I would taste and planned on spending about 15-20 minutes or so at this winery.

Come to find out they also have a flight of 5 sparkling wines for a mere $15, so I opted for this tasting. Our wine server, Victoria, was fabulous! She taught us a lot about each wine we tasted and also about the history of the property. I really enjoyed tasting bubbly that cannot be bought in a store and was unexpectedly surprised at the quality of them...so much so that I had to buy some to bring home and share with my champagne swilling friends who look down their noses at Korbel. haha This is gonna be fun!

Definitely make a stop here, splurge for the 5 flight tasting and plan on staying for at least an hour. You won't be sorry.

Then head on over to the Deli for some out of this world nosh!!

Korbel is located in a picturesque setting and offered many price points for tasting. We chose the All Bubbles tasting of 5 samples. Our server was so knowledgeable and made the experience fun. Afterwards, we had lunch on the terrace selecting from many great cafe options. It was great "field trip" to a winery.

Beautiful historic winery, lovely gardens/grounds and a cafe onsite. No official tastings are happening at the moment though I believe they are returning so we did not see the tasting room. The shop however generously let us sample some wines and we purchased so very grateful. The lady that served us (a snowboarder who has family in Australia) was superb at her role and made the experience all the more fun and enjoyable - thank you.

Like more people I suppose we visited Korbel Champagne Cellars for the tasting and Hillary did not disappoint with the selection, we needed extra room in our SUV for all the great varieties of champagne's and Brandy with "Extra Smooth" being my favorite that we purchased.

But you will miss out on a great opportunity if you don't try the Korbel Delicatessen & Market, we had lunch there and it was amazing. The staff are friendly and the portions are generious.

Korbel deli is one of the best delis around. The food is freshly made, mostly local and always delicious. Lots of variety from really good specialty sandwiches and salads to desserts. Reasonable prices and a really nice patio, open and covered. They serve Korbel champagne and Russian River Brewery beers on tap and the setting is welcoming and comfortable for couples, groups and families. A great place to spend an afternoon and you can also take the winery tour or visit the tasting room.

We killed some time here by going to the deli and getting great salads and a bit of their sparkling wine - seated outdoors in a nook under the redwood trees overlooking the vineyards across the street. It was a great place to kill time before going to the Sonoma airport which is literally a few miles away.....especially during the time of COVID.

I had been to the winery years ago - we just used it to eat before our flight home - and a great thing and place to do it.

Stopped in without a reservation and couldn’t do a tasting because reservations were full. The y did kindly give us a splash of two champagnes and it was certainly more than a “splash!” We weee happy that we could partake somewhat in a tasting experience here. We decide to get a pastry and some mimosas from the small cafe on the grounds. Everything was great and sitting under the redwoods was so peaceful and relaxing. Would definitely come back to do the cellar tasting.

Enjoyed a seated tasting of bubbles. Very relaxing with nice staff. Bought a few different bottles to take home. Located about 10 minutes from the Armstrong Preserve so it was perfect to taste
after a nice walk through the preserve.
