The Iron Door Saloon has live bands on weekends and has a regular concert series with musicians of some fame! We have even enjoyed Eddie Money in this little mountain town on the way to Yosemite. Thursday is Karaoke night bringing out a mulit-generational crowd of local talent.

"The Door" always seems to have something going on and is the place to meet interesting people from all over the world over a pint of ice-cold beer!

You should stop in for one! Cool place with some interesting features and of course, cold beer. Friendly bar tender.

We stopped in for drinks before going to dinner st the Mexican restaurant. The margarita was ok but there was way too much ice. You have to go in just to see the place. In hindsight we should have stayed for supper. The onion rings delivered to the next table looked yummy. The wait staff were really nice.

This place is terrible. The saloon looks cool. We got there and they put us in this awful room that is adjacent to the saloon. The chairs were broken and misatched. It was a hot mess. No one was serving us. We asked if we could go to the saloon side and just wait for a table. They got annoyed and said no one took our order because the kitchen isn't taking food orders for 30 minutes so they can catch up. If I'm going to sit there and wait in a dirty hole for 30 minutes the chair can't have the springs showing. PS. Don't get me started on that salad bar.

Yes, you can find all of the aforementioned things at the Iron Door Saloon plus, the wrong or padded bills if you are not paying attention. The chairs don't fit the tables, and it is probably a good idea to bring your own silverware as if it is not already on the table, you can just forget it, just like the water to drink. The service there is spotty at best and the food is okay. Yes it is an historic building, but the ordeal we have met on several occasions is not worth a return trip.

Stayed in this quaint little town for 1 night on route to Yosemite. We didn't eat at the saloon but went for drinks. What a pleasant evening- live band and all. Being tourists, this felt like being in a western movie. The barmen, decor, music and patrons... Loved it

If you are traveling through grovland to Yosemite or just up for a day trip out of the valley this is a cool place to stop and have a beverage and enjoy the originality of this place . It is truly the oldest bar in California and you will meet all walks on life in here since it is the gateway to Yosemite people from all over the world stop in . Ok for families during he day , live music kicks in on Friday and sat nights , food is ok, I wouldn't say it's a top spot to eat however a cold beer and some good conversation will always be interesting.

It's always fun to stop at these historical sites. We had got lost in the mountains driving to Groveland but had a gps that helped us get to Groveland on a very scenic mountain route so we were ready to get checked in and have something to eat. Tammy the Inn Keeper at All Seasons Groveland Inn, suggested the Iron Door Saloon which was right down the street. The staff was very friendly, there was lots of character and customers having fun. So many old time pieces hanging, along with many dollar bills, from the ceiling. The house wine and our dinner were both so-so. My husband got a fish burger and I got the fish chips. The breading on the fish was a little overdone and the homemade chips had kind of a burnt taste. But it was still fun to experience this old, local hangout and think of all the good times had there as there was the evening we were there.

Let's just make it clear, everyone knows this place locally and you cannot miss it once you hit the main street. The place is the oldest operating saloon in California. Full service bar and very good food. The service staff was friendly and they offer live music on Friday and Saturday nights.....It has a super rustic feel, but you feel right at home the minute you walk in. During the day is when we went and it was very kid friendly.....I am sure as the night progresses, its not as much of a destination for little ones.....I would go here again for sure!

We had a meal at the Saloon during a recent California road trip. According to the signage it's California's oldest surviving saloon and the décor would suggest that's probably true. The Iron Door has a genuine saloon feel to it with simple, hearty and tasty meals. The staff could not have been more helpful with tips for our drive the next day and friendly service for food and drinks. One of the hostesses even showed our youngest daughter how to fold a dollar around a thumbtack to join the local tradition of tossing them into the ceiling above. She nailed it first try ! The saloon is decorated with also kinds of memorabilia, pictures and historic artefacts. They welcome families and actually mean it. Love this place.
