We also visited Loxton as part of a Platypus Wine Tour in Sonoma. Appearance wise, Loxton was the least fancy winery, yet the visit was very informative and the wines were wonderful. We had the pleasure of meeting Chris Loxton, the owner from a long line of Australian wine makers, who clearly devotes a lot of time to working every... More

We visited Loxton as part of a Platypus Wine Tour. It was the first of our winery tours, and frankly, the best. We met Chris Loxton, the vintner, as he was weeding his vines. Chris gave us a wonderfully real picture of how he crafts his wine, from the terroir to the weather to the financial realities of making wine... More

Fantastic wines, and fantastic host in Chris. Would highly recommend for anyone wanting to taste some great wine, but also get an amazing insight into the wine industry from a true grower/maker/owner in Chris. A must do when in Sonoma.

This winery is a newer winery. The tasting room is not fancy, but their selection of wines was good. The owner was actually there working and spent a little time talking with us. He was very interesting and very nice. The server, was also very pleasant and the most helpful of the day. Although the winery is smaller and not... More

Stopped on a winery tour... small winery, but great experience and conversation with the owner Chris... WInes are pretty decent.. Did buy a bottle.. Would not have stopped ourselves, but worth stopping in on your travels if you're passing by.

This boutique winery is definitely worth going to just for the Shiraz and the Zin. The wine tasting room is small but all the wines are of a good quality. The Australian connection was a nice surprise - you can't miss it as it features in the "decor" :). Chris is a nice gentleman and is obviously very proud of... More

We loved the tour of the vineyards with details of the soil, the weather, the growing of the grapes, the harvest, etc. it is amazing to hear how complex it is to run a vineyard and how much science (and TLC) goes into growing the grapes. After the tour we went into the wine tasting room and were blown away... More

If you visit the Sonoma Area, do not miss Loxton Winery in Glen Ellen!!! We recently travelled through the wine regions of California and Loxton was one of our favourites. Boutique winery and you can tell from meeting Chris that he is passionate about making great wine. The wines are amazing, and great value. Definitely don't miss.

We joined Chris Loxton, the owner and winemaker of Loxton Winery for a walk thru of the vines. Fascinating information followed by an elegant tasting. I don't want to spoil all of his clues and his scientific reflection on the world of making all species - human, animal, birds and plants work together is very reflective and informative. This time... More
