Avoid this outlet. You're better off going to the Livermore outlet. But for some odd reason, they call it San Francisco Premium Outlet even though it's about an hour away. They have more quality stores and better selection. I believe the Livermore outlet is closer!!!...More
There are tons of stores that are spread out in three areas. The way it’s layed out you can walk to each, but most likely you’ll have to drive. It covers a pretty large area. The other draw back, there wasn’t many places to eat...More
This place offers a variety of shops for your needs. Prices are at a discount at these locations, however, you may still feel they aren't cheap enough. Of course, it allows you to roll from one store to another with the wonderful cali weather.

You are probably best to go with what you have found. Amtrak, has a couple of trains, but it will take you along time to get to your destination. Greyhound is no help unless you want to leave San Francisco very early in the morning and the fare is 28.00 each way so again not very good for you. The only other option if you really want to do this on the cheap is to take Caltrain from San Franicsco to San Jose and then transfer to the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority bus #68 at San Jose Diridon Center, this will take you to Gilroy Transit Center. Total time is around 3 hours. The only other alternative is to rent a car in SF for a day and drive. When all is said and done your outlethop is going to be your best bet, it will take you right to where you want to go and back.
