You could go to Ferrari Carano across the street and down in the valley, as they have a huge operation and undoubtedly more wines to choose from, but this little winery was perfect for us. We had a reso for a private tasting and tour through a Winspire package deal, and we were pleasantly surprised to find we had the place all to ourselves, with the winery manager as our tour guide. Off we went into the Gray Palm Vineyard, where they have 80% Zinfandel vines and 20% petite syrah vines. We learned about how they graft the grape plants with european vines, how they cultivate the plant and train it to be on the east side of the row, so the grapes don't overheat with the afternoon sun, and how they plant herbs like mustard, radish and lavender in between the rows so they can mulch it in and improve the soil. As we strolled along we began sipping sauvignon bland, one of the better ones I have tasted, then went to Chardonnay, then as we settled in at a table on the patio, the zinfandel, the old vine zin, and the petite syrah. John, our tour guide was so knowledgeable, but not a know-it-all, and he answered all our questions, displaying a passion for wine and this winery that represents the BEST part of a small producer. We even met and chatted with the Winemaker, Mike, who talked like a chemist, and was really friendly and shared his glass of a not yet bottled petit Syrah he was testing. We saw all the machinery used in the process, and had it all explained to us. This was so much better than just drinking; John and his wife Kim, and Mike made this the best ever wine tasting and tour we have had. (And we have done some in France, but they were not nearly as informative). As other reviewers have said, the views are spectacular. Get a picnic lunch at Dry Creek General Store (gourmet sandwiches) and take it to Cast for an unforgettable meal in the vineyards.

Such a great winery especially for how young they are. Good sparking wine and a great old vine Zinfandel. The patio and view was amazing.

We went here looking for a new place to buy a bottle and have a picnic. Being local, we get into the habit of going to the same places. The building is beautiful and they use the deck outside to serve tastings. We were the only ones there, but were told we couldn't picnic there. We had to go down a steep dirt path and picnic at some old picnic tables in the vineyard. I'm sure it would have been nice enough, but why not allow us to stay on the deck? Plus the server talked and talked to justify their $25 per person tasting fee. You have to buy three bottles for them to waive the fee! The wine was just okay. With all the choices we have here, I can't say I would recommend.

The view was wonderful! We had a very relaxed tasting sitting on the patio. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. This was a very small winery, but definitely the type of atmosphere we enjoy! We did take home some wine as well!

My wife and I just got back from a weekend in the Bay Area where our planned adventures included visiting a few boutique wineries and enjoying the natural beauty of Northern California. On a whim, we took Highway 101 north seeking to find that special place where we could both enjoy a great bottle of wine while tossing aside all cares and concerns that we seemed to have been carrying on our shoulders for quite some time. Boy did we ever find the spot! Everything about this winery experience was first rate from the staff greeting us at the door to the goodbyes said as we checked out at the gift shop. While all of the wines we tasted were exquisite, my wife particularly enjoyed the Petite Sirah. The wine had a nice pepper middle with a hint of sweetness just on the edge. She said she thought she'd found her Holy Grail. I prefer white wines and while the chardonnay was outstanding, the sauvignon blanc held its own in every way. We joined the wine club and purchased a few snazzy shirts at the gift shop to help memorialize our visit. John, Kim and all the staff were extremely gracious and treated us as VIPs. We'll definitely be back! We're also telling all our friends about Cast too!

We visited this winery during Dry Creek Passport weekend. The Petite Sirah was excellent and the views from the deck were amazing. A great low key atmosphere that's worth the trip.

This was our first stop and it happened by accident. We saw the sign and we were so lucky to have stopped by. The view is fantastic and the owner and very nice women that explained the wines were both very helpful. It is a brand new winery and they just made you feel like you were there long time family friends. Thanks so much for the hospitality!!
