About 4 years ago, from the writing of this review, a developer bought the building known for years as "California Poultry, Inc." For years this had been a poultry processing plant, the building was abandoned around 2003-04, and the plant was moved to Petaluma.

When the plant moved, the existing 10,000+ sq. ft. building was left empty, abandoned, and in progressive disrepair, caused by leaks, rodents, and probably transients. The building needed a LOT of work.

Today the building houses 23 artist studios, an art gallery and a mid-century furniture store.

It is a wonderful place to be sure. It is a place with lots of history, and a place that has the potential to be GREAT. A real landmark for this little sleepy town of Fulton, CA (located at 1200 River Rd, just north of Santa Rosa, take the River Road exit, turn WEST)

The only thing that would make it better, is if the gallery could be open more than just 2 half-days per week, currently open only Sat & Sun noon-5. I understand there are financial implications involved with running a gallery, that said however, it would be easy to attract more traffic if there could be other businesses within close proximity.

Maybe a café or a beer or wine tasting room?
A Subway Sandwich shop would be great
A place to picnic, or a place for kids to play?
Something, anything that can make this more of a destination stop, instead of "just' an art gallery open 2 half-days per week.

Not long ago, there used to be a taco truck parked in front of the building, but it is gone now (too bad). My wife and I had many pleasant mini-meals there, there were a few tables to sit and enjoy the place.

Don't get me wrong, if you are lucky enough to be there during the hours it is open, you will be in for a treat. There is a lot of 'stuff' to see, some people say there is too much 'stuff', and I've heard others say it is a bit overwhelming, but you don't have to do it all in one day, you can come back again, and again.

Included in the gallery are paintings, sculptures, jewelry, pottery, etc.

So make a point to go there, and buy something. Maybe someday soon, Fulton Crossing can be a place you can go any day of the week and meet the artists and see the work, and have a taco and a coffee

That would make it a 5 STAR stop.

Surprise in Fulton!

What a great surprise while I was out and about heading to Russian River. This "old chicken rendering warehouse" was turned into an artists' studios and fabulous Gallery space for many more artists. In one place you can browse the many types of artworks and possibly come home with a master piece. And before you head into the Gallery, you might get caught up in perusing the "mid century modern furniture" next door. What ever your likes, you'll be sure to be delighted by something in the compound. And perhaps you'll find a few artists working in their studios... always an interesting discussion to be had.

since this gallery is only open weekends from 12-5:00 it took me awhile to get over here. Definitely, worth a visit. Very cool, large, open space building. I enjoyed the "mid-century" furniture shop on the same property. You can check their website for details but I would guess about 20 artists were represented. I enjoyed taking my time and chatting with the folks that were painting, etc the day I visited. The prices were reasonable and it is a fun way to spend a few hours.
