Nice clean comfortable Van. Professional, Friendly, genuine driver. I was impressed working with David. We exchanged many phone calls and emails and he accommodated our hiking group in a very friendly and flexible manner while providing exceptional value. Even provided a delicious cold drink after 3 days of hiking on the dusty trail. Very easy to work with, good communication (a major +++), friendly, genuine and knows the roads of Northern Mendocino and Humboldt County. We'll be repeat customers for the next hike. Thanks!

Dave picked us up at a small airport near Mendocino and we spent the day tasting wine and Dave was like our tour guide. He picked us up and took us back to the airport for a perfect weekend.

Based on the glowing reviews here, I attempted to book their Lost Coast Eco Tour. Things went off the tracks immediately. First, I called twice and e-mailed once (no one ever answered the phone number on their website!) before I got a cryptic response from their Office Manager indicating my request had been forwarded on to the owner. When I turned my phone on the next morning, I had a voicemail (presumably from the owner) who indicated he had no one else scheduled for this tour for any of my three (3) requested days -- I tried to give them plenty of flexibility -- almost a month in the future so he would not be able to accept my booking. He offered me absolutely NOTHING! My wife was very disappointed as she had been looking forward to this tour as a highlight of our vacation in Mendocino County. The cards, it seems, are stacked entirely in this business' favor. Even though there is absolutely NOTHING on their website indicating this, they won't run a tour -- even if they accepted your prepayment -- if they don't have what they deem to be a sufficient number of reservations for the same day.

This couple conveniently failed to mention they bought a Groupon voucher for this tours. The stipulation on the voucher clearly states that there was a minimum requirement of 6 people needed to be booked to send out this tour. The fact that they did not read this part of the offer is regretful but not our fault.

The edible mushroom trip was a joy. Our guide was fabulous and knew all we could dream of about mushrooms and the rest of the flora in the pygmy forest and on the rest of our walk. My boys, ages 12,10, 8 and I learned more than we had hoped for and went home with three meals worth of hedgehogs,yellow-footed chanterelles and pigs ears--what a treat!!!! I was looking for an experience that was exceptional and pulled us into the local environment and I found a great one. We were on a homeschooling science trip and the outing was very educational. I wouldn't hesitate to do it again next time we're in the area--highly recommended.

So happy you not only enjoyed our Mushroom Tour, but you also went home with some great edibles and knowledge so you and your boys can start looking for your own shrooms.
Happy shrooming

I wanted to see the Northern California Coast and this seemed like a the likely venue to get out of the towns and so forth. What a wonderful surprise! The springtime cannot be any more spectacular anywhere! The native flora was in bloom and the native irises and rhododendrons put on quite a show! Foxglove and Chinese forget-me-nots, well the list just goes on and on. I was happily surprised to find the Roosevelt Elks observing us as well! Beautiful countryside!!

My friend and I decided to experience the Lost Coast Eco Tour as a way to see nature few others have access to. Our day started with a van pickup and beautiful highway one scenery from Mendocino to parts north of Westport (Sinkyone Wilderness on Usal Beach). The owner, David, and tour guide, Evan, personalized our trip by listening to our questions and answering all about the flora and fauna (including birds) of this area. After parking, my friend decided to stay and view the local plants, and I took the moderate hike up the hill to see the spectacular panoramic views. Afterward, we all enjoyed lunch at Usal beach and headed home with wonderful memories of the day.
Trip advice: wear comfortable hiking shoes, insect repellant and sunscreen.

The Mendocino Coast has many wonderful artists, but the chance to see inside their studios is a rare and pleasurable event. Mendo Insider Tours offered just such an experience. Tip! Take your credit card as you may wish to purchase some art. The Mercedes bus is comfortable and I loved the videos of the artists and their work before we reached their studios. Great local scenery on the way to the studios too! I highly recommend this trip to couples, groups and solos!

I have been to Sinkyone state beach/ park twice , once last April, and this past week ! I went on my own first, then this week with my girlfriend . It is so Zen there , peaceful and relaxing are what comes to mind here! It's an easy drive just north up Hwy 1 about 5 miles once you start going into the trees, then a sharp left onto Usal rd. Usal is about a #2 in difficulty if it's dry , if it's wet , its near impossible because of the steepness and literal 1500 ft drops in some areas. Anyway , both times I've been it's been dry . Once you turn onto Usal rd ( Mendocino county rd 431 ) it's about a 5.5 mile drive through a wonderful forest, down the mountain you just drove over , across the bridge over Usal Creek, and then either go left for camping or further up and also go left to the beach or continue north up further on the Usal rd. ( the part north past the beach is not maintained / graded, so high clearance 4x4 is a must, winch, shovel, chainsaw highly recommended ) . Anyway , both times I just hung out at the beach , with this times camping 2 nights and one of them enjoying a beautiful sunset over the water.
