The Folsom Zoo is a zoo and sanctuary located in Folsom, CA.
It is very well kept zoo and great for little kids. Many animals were absent today, not sue here the were. The two bears were wonderful. You must make a reservation, wear a mask and practice social distancing. After a visit to the zoo, there is a playground for kids along with picnic tables and benches.
Unfortunately there were some homeless who were off their meds and acting crazy... very sad.

This is my second trip to the Folsom Zoo. Its a pleasant smaller zoo to explore.
I liked to see the animals and also the wild peacocks that visit the zoo.

There were several school groups that were there on a Friday morning.

I in particular liked the bear, zebu, cats, tiger, and bird exhibits.

Parking is free.

A great sanctuary zoo in a small town. Lots of animals and very well suited to small children. Take the kids or grandkids for a wonderful stroll through this very well laid out Sanctuary Zoo

This is a nice little zoo that is an affordable alternative to other large zoos in Northern Cal. It is small, but has a decent number of animals and exhibits mainly directed toward young children. There is a cute park right outside the entrance as well. Overall a very good value.

Love this place - my wife was a docent - so we go several time a year - all the animals are rescues - no place else for them to go and most are injured so can't live in the wild- place is clean and animals are well loved - staff can tell you great stories about the animals - hate zoos that take animals from the wild or break up families - this is a last stop for all the saved animals - - so not only is it fun and informative - you are helping care for an animal whose life depends on this sanctuary - so you know your dollars are helping each animal

This is more sanctuary than zoo. All the animals here are rescued. Some are former pets and others ran into difficulties in the wild. Now they all have a safe place to live and visit with the local community. The sanctuary was formed when an orphan bear needed a home and now includes everything from insects to tigers. You can pick up a map at the ticket booth, but it's more fun to wander through the paved paths and be surprised by the wide variety of animals that live here. Around one corner, you'll see a lynx lounging in the shade, around another and you'll see Henry the bear foraging through the bars of his enclosure (because of course, anything out of reach must taste better than the abundance of food in his territory.)

Each animal has back story that you can read on the plaques that line the fences. By the time you leave, you'll feel like you've made many new friends.

Don't forget to stop by the gift store. You can take home your favorite animal (plush that is), or pick up an original piece of art done by one of the residents. I'm proud to own a couple abstracts done by some talented squirrels.

I'm lucky enough to work near the zoo, and I sometimes go for a quick visit at lunch for a break from the 9-5 grind.

Smaller than the Sacramento Zoo but great animal exhibits. Nestled in a park with a train ride for smaller kids.

Pay NO attention to any bad Review of the Folsom Zoo. It is Awesome. If we must contain wild animals, this is a wonderful place to view them. It is small and very very focused on the health and welfare of the animal. How do I know that? Because I am an active volunteer in the community and I know the Zoo's routine. Yes, it is Small. ..and THAT is alot of the Appeal. You can SEE everything, and sit and ENJOY it. For those that want to go to some big, expansive Zoo, head on down to San Diego and have your fill. Sure you will see some different animals, but for a small town adventure this is one of the most wonderful experiences to have. It is Clean and Compact, so much is packed into this area. The Zoo, The Train, The Park, The Playground. Gorgeous Trees and Grounds. LOVE LOVE LOVE!

Okay so the day before, remember this is long distance, on pay telephone that ninety cents for three minutes! Make it easy I put dollar, so four quarters! Me Yes! I understand you are a zoo! Them Yes we are a zoo more of an animal sanctuary! Me What are your hours tomorrow? Them We open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.! Me Are you reciprocal with Oakland (CA) Zoo? Them We are not a regular zoo, more of an animal sanctuary! We do not reciprocate with any zoos, however, you can become a member here!

Okay so next day! We leave drive up between 10:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Get there, confused of the parking! That kills ten minutes of time! When we get there, the cashier say, "We closing at 3:00 p.m. today," something too hot weatherwise for the animals! That only gave us less 30 minutes! We pay the six dollar each! Any animal exhibits I always take maps brochures, cross off when we saw the exhibit! There least twenty two, in the less than 30 minutes, we only got see eight (8)! Ah yes, this is Review Number (MAESTRO or MAESTRA a few notes on the piano if you please) eighty four of this so call Animal Sanctuary/Zoo in Prison Town Folsom! By way, we came direct, did not stop for lunch!

If any local people of Prison Town Folsom reading this, please will you somehow to communicate with this place, tell us why they gave False Information! Now if they from San Diego they really would wasted their entire day, we of Oakland, to us was waste!

We love to support the Folsom Zoo and their wonderful staff. There has been a definite upgrade since 2017. We had a picnic in the park area, which has wonderful playground equipment for kids. We then went to the zoo. It has had many upgrades lately and is beautifully maintained. After visiting the zoo we walked over to see the train. There were a lot of kids today but most were very well behaved. What do I expect on a weekend?
Zoo staff was busy putting up lights for Christmas special for upcoming festival. BTW...zoo is closed Mondays.
