The Folsom Zoo is smaller than many zoos, but still quite interesting. They specifically house animals that are native to the Sacramento valley and foothills. They also are home to a number of "rescue " animals that would not be able to survive in the wild. There are volunteer docents that provide background on the animals and make presentations. Because... More

I enjoy seeing animals I would normally see, but I'm also bothered by the enclosed areas they are confined to live. This zoo takes abandoned bear cubs, or injured animals and provides a life for them. It's a wonderful zoo and a great family outing for all ages. There is a park next to the zoo and so bring a... This zoo is made up of rescued animals and they do a wonderful job. Not too good for seniors who have trouble walking because of the curving walkways. If you're in town around Christmas time, go at night to see"Wild Nights and Holiday Lights", Dec 2-3, 9-10 and 16-23, 5-8 pm. Thousands of colorful LED lights adorn the zoo and... More

Small zoo full of rescued animals. The work they do is amazing. Go, donate, volunteer, take your children.

I love this place. All of the animals are rescued from bad situations and cannot be released back into the wild. The bears have wonderful enclosures. My favorite is Henry. They have 2 Siberian female tigers too. Resident deer hang out by choice. A nice place to bring children especially during Christmas with zoo lights.

My group was so impressed with the care the animals are given and the entire feeling of the Zoo. We particularly enjoyed the wolf enclosure, with grass and room for them to run and play. Highly suggest this for a family outing with children of all ages.

This is not a large Zoo but a fun place to take kids. Animals are close up and easy to watch. Very fun at Christmas when it is decorated with lights.

The staff is very friendly, ready to share some great info about the animal - where they came from, what their issues are - why they are there! You can stroll along at your own pace and get to know the animals within.
