We strolled up while on a walk around Folsom. Wonderful history here with knowledgeable and friendly volunteers to explain everything. Definitely recommend to stop by.

Just 30 minutes is all that it would take to go through the Folsom prison Museum it's really a small converted house. You might even be able to get through there a lot quicker if you don't read every little thing that they have printed...More

Lots of great info here about this still active prison. It's interesting to see guards come and go.Lots of things you can purchase too plus a model of a cell.

The museum was small but had several exhibits and the video about the prison. I had not realized that seventeen movies were actually filmed based on life in this prison. The attention to detail was clear.

the museum is free if you go with a family member who is also an employee.if you go, definitely watch the video with Huell Houser.

No but talk has it that one will be in the new museum along with a little more info on Rick James who was actually jailed there.

No. He actually played inside the prison and you cannot go inside. The museum is located outside the gates.

I don't think anyone is allowed inside the prison. The museum is small, no need for a tour
