We were driving south on CA-9 on a Tuesday & most brew pubs & cafes were closed. So we went to Von’s, bought several picnic items & asked our cashier to recommend a picnic spot. He pointed to the county park across the street so we drove there & had a picnic at the picnic tables with the historic covered bridge as our back drop! It was lovely & we were so surprised that CA even had such a bridge since we normally associate covered bridges with New Hampshire! This one was built in 1892 over the San Lorenzo River & is one of the few remaining in CA.

We stop at Felton Covered Bridge on our way back home from our trip to Santa Cruz. This bridge is well maintained considering it was originally built in 1892. It is about 80 feet long and the tallest covered bridge in the U.S. We spent about 20 minutes checking the area and reading the information about the bridge. If you are in the area and interested on bridges this is a must see.

Small park with jungle gym for children. Walk over and into the covered bridge, it is a beautiful piece of history. Not recommended for women alone at night, there are "walking wanderers"

Small city park with a lovely old covered bridge. If you go over the bridge and turn left taking the road a short distance, you arrive at an area where horses are boarded. It a great place to walk around and see all the many horses, or perhaps even have a lesson.

Didn't know much of the history of the bridge. Interesting piece
of history in the middle of town.wife and I walked through the bridge and the surrounding little park, very pleasant.

Upon entering the park you notice wonderful playground equipment for children. The major problem is the park is over run by homeless; maybe that is why there was no children using the playground equipment. We noticed two people entering one port-apotty... very suspicious!

The covered bridge was built in the 1800's and updated in 1987; It is beautiful. You can walk through and the turn to your left and find equestrian stables.

Sad the homeless are taking over a small but nice park.

It's a shame that this is the center of our beautiful town of Felton, and home to the iconic Felton Covered Bridge. We stopped taking our son there a long time ago because of the constant flow of meth heads, sketchy people, open drug dealing, and the like. It seems that people from the local homeless encampment along the river like to mosey over here to socialize with one another behind the gas station. I saw a sheriff vehicle there about a week ago, and I sure hope this can be cleaned up. It would be nice to feel like I could safely enjoy a day at the park with my family in the town where I live and own a home.

We were visiting the area and driving through town with friends who live in Ben Lomond. When we stopped at a light, I saw the sign for the Felton Covered Bridge and we turned right to check it out. The bridge is very photogenic. Although the current structure is not original, the history of the bridge is very interesting. Well worth the impromptu detour!

The bridge is a beautiful testament to its builders. The nearby park is a fun place to stop if you have little kids. The neighborhood directly by the bridge is a little sketchy. Don't go there at night.

I grew up in Felton my whole life. It is sad to see this place become seedy. I don't feel safe there. There are drug dealers and people sleeping around the area. When there are a lot of people around, like in the summer, it feels safer. Or when there are popup events, that's ok. But I wouldn't walk around there alone. The place needs more patrolling.
