Stunning
Sep 2020
Wow! The current exhibit by artists inspired by Frido Kahlo is great fun and educational. In Covid-19 this museum is limiting the number of visitors and taking temperature checks upon arrival. There is free parking in the adjacent lot and tickets can be purchased on line or upon entry to this museum. Because it's quite popular and free for residents of Escondido, I'd suggest arriving at the opening time to have a pleasant, safe visit prior to mid-November when this special show closes.

The best venue
Oct 2019 • Couples
The best venue. Great space for company events. Saw Patton Oswalt in their large theater- probably the best comedy show ever in a great hall. This place is San Diego’s best kept secret. It makes the San Diego civic theater look like my 3 year olds auditorium. I highly recommend everyone check this out.

Degas showing
Aug 2019 • Friends
If you have never visited the CA center for the arts you have missed a great opportunity The musical shows are great with comfortable seats and good acoustics. Costs are reasonable and sound systems are good. They have free shows at times be sure to pick up the schedule.
The Degas show was well done with some of his better known works and portraits by artists who knew him well.
Dont skip the gift shop for a bargain or two.
Ciao.

50th moon landing show

The California center for the arts is a very nice relaxing complex. With banquet rooms and two theaters. The main theater holds may be a thousand people. A wide variety of shows are offered here anything from pop to jazz to classical music.
Both thin use have a fair amount of stairs. There are elevators to get around this and ramps. Most all seats have good views of the stage.

Such an interesting inland spot

I have been here for several concerts - from Omara Portundo of the Buena Vista Social Club to my grandson's school concert! It is a great community resource. Very regal, good acoustics, and a lot of fun.

Beautiful and Great Sound

Beautiful and Great Sound.
It seems as every seat is a good seat.
Next time I would love to have my daughters see a show from one of the many small balcony that are high above the audience.

Beautiful Center Horrible Staff
Apr 2019 • Family
My family and I have visited the center for three dance competitions this year at this location. The location is beautiful the convenience is great. The experience with the staff is absolutely horrible. To be fair some of the staff are very pleasant. But there is a large amount of staff over the age of 50 in their golden years employed by this facility. There demeanor, behavior and approach toward the public and if safety is absolutely rude, insulting and demeaning. This facility is known for being very particular about every detail of the safety which is understood. They want you to have your shoes on at all times including dancers in the facility upfront there is no food allowed unless you purchase it they are in their bar area. Most of these seasoned employees are looking for an opportunity to harass patrons. On all three visits this year alone I have had some of the same employees yell at my 13-year-old daughter for ridiculous reasons . When I say yell that is appropriate term. On one occasions she was sitting on a bench in the lobby with her foot crossed over her leg and “Peter” took it upon himself to shout “Get your foot down now “ I was sitting right next to her and she jumped from his shouting . Before I could even say anything he was yelling at us because she was carrying an empty Starbucks Reusable Cup that we purchased with her name on it and a design . It was empty but she had no room in her back pack to carry it. I tried to explain that it was not a disposable cup and that it was empty but instead he argued over again that I needed to throw it away. Shouting and insisting it go in the trash . I went to my car instead to wait for awards and watch the rest of the competition on live stream. He was ridiculous and another staff tried to butt in an add their comments not even knowing the situation. It was so ridiculous. This is just one encounter. On another occasion this “Peter” decided to yell at myself and my husband because we were wearing flip flop style sandals and are foot was hanging half way out of them as we sat on a sofa in the lobby .. He shouted at the both of us “Put your shoes back on” . Seriously it was unreal .
I totally understand wanting to keep the facility safe and clean and taken care of but the harassment from this type of staff is absolutely ridiculous and uncomfortable. At another dance competition I had another elderly staff shout at my older daughter because she brought her umbrella inside of the building . She could have asked her to place it out in the patio or been a little less abrasive, but instead she shouted “ Get that thing out of here right now “ “you can not come in with that “ It was pouring rain outside.
There is a way to speak to the public and I feel that it’s not being done in a very professional manner by this age group of employees . Perhaps they should be put in another job or apply to a security company that they can feel more powerful in .
I have stayed quiet years in the past , but this year has been the worst.
I feel like messages can be communicated better with less foolish harassing and shouting.
I’m hoping that administration will address this issue and at the very least it will be tone down a few to the patrons that will visit after us ....
Peter should not be shouting or screaming at any child, teen or adult.

A Dazzling Venue
Apr 2019 • Couples
This is a large complex of buildings that includes a concert hall, theater, art museum, art and dance studios, and a conference center. There is plenty of free on-site dedicated parking.

The center's website offers info about various concerts, events and activities thru-out the year. The staff is very helpful and energetic.

My wife and another couple attended a concert by the 1st Marine Division Band from Camp Pendleton, CA. Usually, either the Marine band or Navy band performs annually and sometimes more often. This performance was stellar with an 1 1/2 hour non-stop performance that included singing performances. Some patriotic songs are played but most are tunes that are non-patriotic. The point I want to make is that these military bands do not just play solemn patriotic songs and/or marching music. However, their music is always upbeat and their programs allow the audience to sing along. Military band concerts are always free to the public. It is heartwarming to see the musical talent among the rank and file members of our military.

The concert hall is a fascinating venue with multiple tiers. The acoustics are wonderful. It is well maintained and is a great tribute to the City of Escondido. You will not be disappointed in this venue for any events you opt to see.

Pleasantly surprised by this wonderful venue.

My husband and I spend three nights in Escondido and our major reason was to see Alan Cumming at the California Center for the Arts. Downtown Escondido, sadly, was a disappointment but this venue was wonderful. We were pleasantly surprised at the size of the theatre, the excellent acoustics, the comfortable seating and the ambiance in general. i doubt if there is a poor seat in the house. We were in the mezzanine and the acoustics were excellent. By all means, if you find an occasion to take in a performance in this venue, do so. By the way, Alan Cumming's performance was extraordinary.

This is an outstanding Centre. Shows are above average to average. Personal opinion is the Advertising and Marketing fails and is below other venues. If successful could attract top rated talent.
