I really enjoyed hiking Daley ranch for the day. It's a beautiful view once uphill. You can hardly tell you walked a long trail. Afterwards, enjoyed row boating in Lake Dixon. There's activities for families, couples and friends. I would definitely go again.

We have hiked different trails at Daley Ranch throughout the years. The first time we came we brought a gaggle of kids (ages 4-11)and several dogs on the weekend. The trail we ended up taking was fairly steep for the younger kids but there was no complaining. It does help to have pier pressure and dogs encouraging you up. Overall... More

We enjoy this hike around Lake Dixon. It's an easy hike with very little uphill. No poles required. Our 4 year old grandson made this hike with us. Come early to beat the heat with water. Takes an hour.

Daly Ranch has everything a hiker, biker, dog walker, runner could want....all can have fun on the trails back in the hills above Escondido. Bring water on a hot day....some trails are easier then others...adjacent to Dixon Lake with trail views of the lake..

Love this park - there are miles and miles of trails, something for everyone. It can be warm so arrive early and wear a hat, sunscreen and loose clothes. We were out for 3 hours today, saw one hiker, 5 mountain bikers. Amazing that there is this much solitude only minutes away. As others have stated - there are No... More

Either park at the foot of the ranch, or drive into Dixon Lake parking lot. Dixon Lake will give you immediate shade and a shoreline trail but you can't swim as it is a reservoir of drinking water. If you want to visit the ranch it is a bit of an uphill climb on a paved road that can get... More

A good place to come and hike. Plenty of hiking trials. Bring a hat, sunscreen and plenty of water as a lot of the trails are out in the open with no shade. Mountain bikers tend to fly down the trails so hikers need to be wary. Good place to bring the dogs but they need to be on a... More

I have only visited from the east end off Dixon Lake, but plan on hiking all the trails I can when in Escondido again. Beautiful place, not overly busy on the trails. Has an air of safety not found in other regions.

One day we spent about 3 hours on the north end, off Cougar Pass Rd, hiking the loop around Burnt Mtn. with a couple of short additions. Although it was a Saturday, we didn't see many people. Very nice hike. Another day (not a weekend), we parked at the main entrance and did a counter-clockwise loop with a climb to... More

This is a nice place to have around, but if you are coming from any distance, the Julian and Cuyamaca area is a better bet. This is nearly as suburban feeling as most of Mission Trails Regional Park which is within the San Diego City limits. We did the Engelmann Oak Loop which was a nice and easy 5 miler... More
