We went to the botanic garden and stopped here as it's right next door. Had a lovely tour and learned a few things. They are still building the museum, but what they have - while small - is interesting, Seems to be very popular for ongoing craft-making series.

I wanted to learn more about the history of the area I am in now (Encinitas), and heard about this museum, so I decided to check it out. There are displays inside a building that show off items and pictures from the history of the San Dieguito River basin; and share historical facts about the area. There is a drug... More

There are nice activities here. Call in advance or check their website. If you are lucky, you can catch their harvest festival or their lima bean cook off. I went with my six year old to decorate a Horn of Plenty with different beans during the fall. She really enjoyed it. They also have a small museum of life as... More

This little hidden gem of a museum sits next to the San Diego Botanical Gardens on Quail Gardens Drive and is a collection of buildings, photos and memorabilia from the early days of this part of Southern California. It doesn't look like much at first but you'll find that you get so engrossed that a couple of hours will just... More

Very nice mini-museum with some artifacts but the grandkids really liked holding the python and showing it to Grandma. Nice views also.

After enduring 6 years of struggle the museum has achieved approval of it's Master Plan, and is proceeding onward with restoration of the 125 y/o Teten house. Grounds are ideal for group events, particularly with western themes. A music video was filmed there by Sara Watkins of the group Nickle Creek and can be seen at: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_VMfCm_fXk. There are fun... More

I always love sharing history in a hands-on environment with kids - one of the most interesting and fun methods of learning, guaranteed to keep their attention! The docents that reside onsite at this lovely collection of historic buildings and history museum have certainly done their homework and offer a wealth of info in a very friendly and helpful manner.... I live close by, and it's been sad to see this site go downhill in recent years. The one main museum building has some interesting history in it and there's a building with the insides decorated in the style of the time/era which is cool, but the entire outside part of this attraction has really degraded badly. What used to... More
