Probably the best coast line view of the California coastline in San Diego. Small and hidden area to park but very clean and friendly atmosphere. Great steps to walk down the cliff as well. This place is famous and it deserves it.

Best sunsets, sand and people at this beach. Swami's is clearly a local favorite and I can see why. You must use a huge staircase to get down to and up from the beach, FYI. Always colorful people here, I already can't wait to return, great vibes at this beach.

Excited to finally visit this iconic beach beautiful water. You have to descend and climb lengthy stairs to reach the beach area but the views are gorgeous. The landing area has a wave statue for pictures and a seating area for those not wanting to descend to the actual beach area. It was fun seeing actual surfer dudes catching a... More

Truly a serene experience. As the name suggests this is one of the calmest beaches that I have been to. The sand glittered like gold in the warm summer sun. Truly a blessed location.

The beach is cause sand, it was very clean when we visited, quite a busy beach too, not over crowded though, swimming was not easy due to the strong waves and people trying to surf! Or body board.

It's be a couple of few years (2013) since I've been here but it's worth going back to if we ever get the chance to visit California again. Great walk, nice beach, and a beautiful scenery right there waiting for pictures to be taken... or even maybe a proposal or two. *hint hint*

I love this beach. Showers at the bottom of the stairs. Public bathroom at the top. Beware that many of the Encinitas homeless love it too. The walk is good most of the time from here to Cardiff, but inaccessible during high tide

All the surfers are out first thing in the morning! Amazing to watch or join. Feel free to take a walk on the beach but make sure to ask one of the surfers about the tide that day.

Great for watching surfers, beware of eroding cliffs. Bring beach chairs and sit just below the stairs, or dress warmly and enjoy a long hike in either direction. Always surfers at this point.
