The past weekend I visited for the second time Dulzura Vineyard and Winery. The wines were delicious, especially their signature Viognier as well as the fruity Merlot. Grant is an excellent host, knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about winemaking. Thank you Grant for a excellent tasting, I will defenetlye be going back.

While in San Diego, we decided to visit the winerys on Hwy 94. This was our first stop, and we spent quite a while here talking with the owner and other relatives working the vineyard. The property had been in the same family since the 1880s. They are relatively small, and want to remain that way to keep control over their product. We were very surprised at their dry Riesling, who h neither one of us typically like. It is far more complex than expected. We bought a mixed 6 bottles and some lovely Vietnamese chocolate. They deal with a Mexican company who makes chocolate from sustainably sources, fair trade beans from throughout the world. It was all wonder and different. They also have a B&B suite.

This is my second review of this location, the first was in 2015. The drive out to the Dulzura Winery is almost worth the trip itself, but this winery gets better every year! I visited yesterday and spent nearly three hours there (most of it on the porch!). They have added a full range of white wines to balance their powerful reds. I sampled an outstanding Riesling, a subtle Viognier, a very nice Pinot Grigio and a sweet Sauvignon Blanc. And to top off the new offering, a rose, a vin Gris made from Cabernet Sauvignon is perfect for kicking back with friends on a sunny afternoon.
The best thing about the Dulzura Winery is the very nice people! Plan to spend a little time to talk to them. Other cool things: walk up the hill behind the tasting rooms into the vineyard where there is an elevated platform that offers you a great view of the Dulzura valley. Bring a picnic lunch, buy a couple bottles of wine and set up on one of the picnic tables down by the creek. There is now a B&B apartment above the tasting room in case you want a relaxing weekend. Enjoy this place, the wines, the people!

Small local vineyard. Open only on weekend. Our host knew his stuff. Found the reds to be all very high in alcohol

Thank you for taking the time to visit our winery and posting a review. I was the one who poured for you during your visit..and wish
to respond to your comment regarding the 'very high alcohol' content of our red wines. Typical (most) Cabernet Sauvignons have alcohol
ranges from 13.5% to 14.5% alcohol by volume. Our '14 Cab is 13.6%...on the low side. Typical Cabernet Franc is in the same 13.5%-14.5% range. The '14 Cab Franc you tasted is 14.2%...the middle of the range. Most Malbecs fall into the same range. Ours is lower than typical at 13%. The last red you sampled here was the Zinfandel. Most typical Zinfandels contain between 14%-15.5% alcohol by volume. The '14 Zin we are pouring is 14.9%. Of course, personal taste is what matters most. Sorry you didn't enjoy them.

A family owned vineyard.... We got there because a brochure we got at the car rental and belive me, it was a finding !!!!
Owned by the Clark Family this vineyard has many many years and produce a great wine. We tasted all of them and were really amazed.
One of the owners gave us the tour and explained how the make their wine sold only at the vineyard.
Of course we bought one of each because we really thought they are amazing.
We truly recommend to make a visit. It's worth !!!!

I have met the people who own this, great couple, love the lay out, takes you back to a different time. I hear the wine is terrific as well. Since I don't drink I cannot give a good review of the wine. Watch for the next East County Vintners Wine Tasting.... Or go on by on a Saturday afternoon.

This was our second stop on our Highway 94 winery drive. Family owned, lovely little tasting room and attention from one of the owners. She also gave us a shipper box so we could safely get all our new wine home on the plane.

Terry and Laura offer an excellent selection of wines from their vineyards. There is an observation deck to enjoy your tastings. Worth the scenic drive for sure.
