Parked in the lot by Powerhouse Park ($15 for 2 hrs) and took a short walk to the beach. The park has a nice grassy area and ocean views. The beach is clean and sandy. Showers, restaurants, beach equipment rentals are all closeby. You can find a better public beach experience.

Del Mar beach at 15th St. was by far the best experience. Easy breezy to park at the Poseidon Restaurant (parking meters) in the parking lot which also offers valet parking. There is also plenty of off street parking if you'd rather not pay $3 an hour to park. The beach was clean and perfectly guarded. The life guard station... More

Nice beach, busy, reasonably clean. Good for strolling, surfing, beach games (in special area). Enjoyed a nice couple of hours.

Went over Labor Day weekend and I was amazed at how few people there were. It helps to have the park right above the beach as a better alternative to sitting in sand. It's very clean. Lots of restaurants and Starbucks nearby.

Del Mar is the best. Scenic bustling but quiet. Great sunsets, great beach, great town, dog beach, restaurants, cliffs. No boardwalk to take away from the beauty but community center to enjoy scenery. Coast restaurants, city restaurants....beach bars.

I like Del Mar Beach because it isn't crowded during the week and it has a nice long entry into the water. The water temps are best in August and September.

If you here in Del Mar in a summer , take advantage of the farely warm water ( never really warm, it's an ocean) fun waves and a buggy board. There are two restaurants that are right on the beach :Jakes and Possidon, the last one is open for lunch. If you are in here in the winter, there is... More

Cool water, dark-ish sand... but so much fun! Boogie boarding in the waves was a huge hit with my kids! Easy to get to... with lots of parking nearby.

Nice, spacious beach but was very crowded in August on a weekday (we were just north of 15th st. I think). Didn't explore but town of Del Mar seemed cute! Nice to have bathrooms nearby as well as a small beach bar-type place with sandwiches, pizza, hot dogs, and other snacks. Parking seemed tough to find but we decided on... More
