This review is regarding only the Catalina Express departing from and returning to Dana Point, CA. Unless you are being dropped off at the dock or are handicapped and permitted to park in the short-term lot, be prepared for quite a trek from the parking lot to the departure point. Here's how it goes. Pull in to the short term... More

This is so convenient and quick to get to Catalina from South Orange County. We have taken it many times. Parking is free. The boat is easily accessible.

My husband & I took the ferry from Dana Point to Catalina Island & back in August 2016. All went smoothly, & the views were beautiful. Ferry time each way was ~1.5 hrs. We'd recommend purchasing your tickets & parking in advance because we were told this is the busiest ferry terminal which goes to Catalina Island. If you're going... More

We took the Catalina Express from Dana Point for a day trip to Catalina yesterday and it was lovely. Our family includes two people in wheelchairs and the crew could not have been more helpful or friendly, it make the trip a breeze for us. One note - people start lining up more than 30 minutes prior to sailing so... More

I have done business with Catalina Express for many years, and I highly recommend their services if you are planning to visit Catalina Island, from Dana Point. This company does a fantastic job! The staff and crew are all friendly, helpful and professional. The boats are very comfortable, clean and well maintained. They offer a beverage and snack bar as... More

We spent 4 nights on Catalina Island. Ferry is nice and smooth. We went from Long Beach to island and returned to Dana Point from Catalina Isle. We sat on top deck and enjoyed the sun. Do wear a light jacket/hoodie as it does get breezy.

We took the Catalina Express from Long Beach only because we didn't know we needed to make reservation to go from Dana Point weeks in advance. But the ride was great and makes it easy and inexpensive to go to Catalina.

Enjoy the fresh sea air on this over-sized speed boat that takes you to enchanting Santa Catalina Island. After a short wait in a long line, we boarded the boat and chose our seats. After the boat turned around and headed for the island, passengers can get up and roam around, which allows a view of all the scenery on... More

Super simple easy way to travel to Catalina. The only way we go is the Catalina Express. Park in the lot for the day (not sure about parking if you're going overnight.) Come a little early, and line up to get on the vessel. Fast, easy trip for the entire family. Dependable, and if you're lucky (which we often are),... More

Catalina is a great, quick get-a-way, whether for a long day or weekend. It offers multiple choices for dining, excursions, shopping and incredible sunsets and views. It is truly a hidden secret, close to Southern California cities with multiple Catalina Express options
