We got this recommendation from a local en route.
And oh my, what a place.
It was really well priced (900kr). The changing rooms were so clean.
And then the pools. There were a grand total of 0 other people in the pool when we arrived. 6 kids from the local school came for a half hour. There was 1 other couple there when we left. It was 0°c when we were there but steam rose from the pools. The main pool was warm. The hot tub was a toasty 38°c.
The view from here was stunning. The pool sits atop the cliff, overlooking the ocean and the fjords.
We are still thinking back to this pool and how good it was.

they offer a big swimming pool with a perfect view of the northern atlantic ocean and a hot tub with about 38 degrees; the basalt columns are directly next to the parking lot of the swimming pool.
we think, it's worth the trip

We planned our trip to make sure we camped here a night.
Unfortunately not much to the town but the sunset was brilliant and there are a few things to see down at the pool and in the small harbour

I drove for 2 hours because it says here it is open from 9 a.m to 9 p.m. But when I got here at 1 p.m. they were closing. Apparently they close from 1-5 p.m. in Seprember. I need to catch a flight today so I cant stick around. I am very dissapointed.

Sadly only got here about 30 minutes before close so we didn't get much time but those 30 minutes were amazing. Perfect end to driving all day. Clean facilities, perfectly warmed pool, low entry price and excellent views. Must stop by if you're in the area. Skip all that overpriced, crowded Blue Lagoon nonsense.

Drove all the way to Hofsos to jump in the pool, only to find out that it was closed and the opening times being 7am-1pm and 5pm-9pm. We got there a few minutes past 1pm. Why would you open so early close during the middle of the day for four straight hours?

We got free pool passes from Sailing in Skagafjörður. This place was perfect after a good day fishing. The pool is an Infiniti pool that rivals the ones I stayed at in Cozumel. There are three pools. The big pool is cool and overlooks the ocean. Lots of people used it for the laps, and it is long enough to get a work out in. The second pool is a descent size hot tub. It was nice having the warm and cool pool so close together if you got too hot or cold. The third toy is for kids. There are plenty of toys for the adults and kids to use. There is also chairs to sit back and look at the view. I was happy to find this gem. There is also a good place to drink water if you get thirsty.

It's not just the fabulous fjord views that make the pool in Hofsos stand out, but the simplicity and quality of the design (both the pool and the changing rooms) also sets it apart. We visited on 2 consecutive days - it was lovely the first time even though it was quite cloudy but it was magical with some sunshine on the 2nd day.
There is one pool (20m long, 4 lanes wide, if I recall correctly) and 2 hot tubs (1 for adults and a shallow version for children), so it's not the biggest but it's plenty for the size of the town. There are no slides (they wouldn't fit in with the architecture) but there were enough inflatable items to keep our children (aged between 4 and 11) entertained for well over an hour.
It almost goes without saying that the whole place was meticulously clean.
Towels can be rented so give it a go even if you don't have any with you (but note that there is no guarantee that there will be enough, we had to share 3 between 5 on one of our visits).
Swimming pools in Iceland are universally excellent (we tested them in most places that we stayed during a 2.5 week tour) but Hofsos was the clear winner. Make sure that you pay a visit if you are passing anywhere close by!

My wife and I with our fifteen year old daughter visited the bath during our ring road trip around Iceland.
You should definitely stop here to visit the bath. The facilities are new and the view from the pool is fantastic. It is like swimming into the sea...

Hi. We're planning to go there in early April. Will it be warm enough to swim there around 6pm? Thank you.

The water in the big pool has 33 degrees Celsius and the one in the small pool has almost 40. You can swim there even if outside is freezing. I would recommend a swimming cap because your head will be outside most of the time. We had 3 degrees outside when we were swimming. Hope this help. Enjoy

Is the pool heated at all? We will be there in late August and wanted to know if it would be warm enough for a swim. Does anyone know where I can find the hours of operation? Are you able to rent towels or should we plan on bringing our own?
Laufey Kristín S
Iceland
The pool is heated with geothermal water so you can easily go for a swim in late August. The pool is open from 09:00am - 09:00pm every day of the week until August 26th. You can rent towels (for 600 isk) and swimmsuits (for 600 isk) on site.
