Ripaljka waterfall is greates waterfall in eastern Serbia. It is located in Ozren mountain, near Sokobanja spa. Waterfall is on Gradashnica river. On the second kilometer from Sokobanja, upstream the Moravica river, on the left riverbank, there is Sokograd. This medieval town was built on the foundations of the settlement the remnants of which were discovered in the dungeon tower of the eastern bulwark. The medieval town has been built during the 13th and the 14th century, only to be destroyed in 1412. by the Turkish conquerors led by the outlaw Musa. A well-preserved cistern was discovered near the bulwark and the citadel in the upper town. Sokograd has been declared the cultural monument of great importance.

Ripaljka watwrfall belongs to the group of accumulative waterfalls. It is located about 5 km south of Sokobanja, at an altitude of 420 meters, and it is 17.5 meters high. During the summer and the first half of autumn, the river Gradašnica dries up, so the waterfall disappears, so you need to take extra care of that. Ripaljka was named after the word "ripnuti", which is used in this part of Serbia for the term "jump".

Amazing place, there are two paths to get here, we recommend the one which goes through the Borići pine park.
Path is quiet and filled with fresh mountain air.
When you get to the place many water cascades fill your soul with freshness. Many benches to rest and cave like features to explore.
Amazing hidden gem of Nature
PS don't expect to see waterfall during the end of summer and autumn, due to dry period ;)

Waterfall falls over the tree roots, rather than stones. There's a little cave up the stairs to the right of the waterfall where people light a candle and apparently pray.

Management of the location should find time to clean the location, walking trails should be renewed and maintained and the children playground needs serious works. Nature is very nice but as said the location needs management.
