We had a wonderful afternoon at Folly Arboretum - we prebooked a tour at midday followed by lunch and wine tasting. The tour was conducted by a member of the Folly family and lasted just over an hour - so much interesting information about the history of the arboretum, the local area and the the different trees and other plants. It’s a beautifully maintained site with glorious views over the Lake. The wine tasting was weaved around lunch from the a la Carte menu. The starters (we had two of the platters - cold cuts and dips with flat bread) were delicious and great to enjoy with the first three of five wines. Balint the wine expert was informative and entertaining and the restaurant staff were attentive throughout. We recommend the chicken breast and the sausages with mustard onions! We spent 4.5 hours there and enjoyed every minute!

The arboretum has a wonderful history and its beautifully kept family owned place. You can easily have a good hours stroll in the park and walk up to the lookout, then enjoy the breathtaking views of the lake Balaton at their restaurant with some really nice wine selection.
I thought the entrance fee is quite pricey for what you see and the restaurant staff was all over the place, rushing and not paying attention to you... maybe that can be worked on.

Folly Arboretum is one of our favourit places around lake Balaton. The arboretum and the view to the lake is beautiful. We used to visit it at least 1-2 times per year. We also used to eat in their restaurant. The service is kind, the food is good made of seasonal ingredients. But the experience today was really upsetting. We reserved a table for 4 and arrived in time. The starters came fast, but we had to wait 1 hour 15 minutes for the main course., which is unacceptable in any restaurant. Something definitely went wron with our order, but we were not warned that it would take long, neither we got any proposal to compensate it. This was especially strange, becauose others arriving after us were served before us. Like the table next to us got the main course in 30 minutes. At the end they said sorry, but we expected some more apologise, like a free drink or so,

Staff was attentive on a not busy day. The botanic garden invites to a nice walk. There are original playground elements here and there for the kids. Their wine, tea and other products are of high quality at a reasonable price. What I did not like was the food in the restaurant. Service was good, courses tasteless, sadly I cannot recommend eating there.

We were here four years ago and then just yesterday. This place is among the regions top places, it is just wonderful. They have put such an effort into preserving and developing this wonderful little gem. The flora is astonishink, even in January, the restaurant is great value, and the service, the staff is extra nice.

What a lovely place! And the view is to die for. Easy access and parking. Beautiful trees and lovely paths with plenty of stops and gazebos and benches with an excellent view to the lake and surrounding area. Next time we try the restaurant as well!

We visited Folly Winery and Arboterum while touring through Hungary with our son and daughter in law who had pre arranged a wine tasting and lunch.
What a superb venue overlooking the magificent Lake Balaton and the surrounding country side.
We were seated in the garden area, with a plate each of delicious cheeses, meats and bread ready for the tasting. Over a period of about an hour, we were presented with five wines - all made from their own grapes - and all absolutely superb.
The winemaker could not speak english, but was accompanied by the manager who acted as an interpreter. Both were extremely knowlegable and provided us with the history, background and tasting information for each of the wines - we all agreed that it was an absolutely wonderful experience.
We are in the wine industry in Margaret River, and have done numerous tastings in any number of locations - Folly was outstanding.
Then to top this off we were presented with lunch and a bottle of their best white. The lunch had been especially prepared just for us - it was delicious.
Nothing was too much trouble
If you are in the area, a visit is a must - if you are not in the area, it is a very easy drive and a visit is also a must.
Thankyou Folly Winery and Arboretum - Trev, Jen, Greg and Katie

Arboretum with amazing trees and pines close to Lake Balaton. The venue is on the slopes of a mountain, so good shoes are recommended. You can enjoy here not only natural beauties but the jaw-dropping panoramic view. If You are thirsty You can have homemade lemonade and wine of the arboretum owners. I can just recommend the venue!

An excellent outdoor family program, a nice walk into a unique collection of pines and other trees. They have a playground for the kids and a winery for their parents.

The food was great but the staff and were awesome. Don’t forget to buy the dinner ticket if you visit them. You have to try their cakes also. Great sight in sunset. Must be there

We are staying in badacsonytomaj, is it possible to get here on public transport (bus or train)? If you want to take part in a wine tasting do you need to book in advance?
