Love the character of this old saloon! They make a mean Bloody Mary, and the beer is always ice cold. Pool table in the back, along with table shuffle board. GREAT juke box or Sirius station, had David Allen Cole playing when we walked in- a local hangout, but are friendly enough to us outsiders, especially if they see your face a couple of times ;-)

We had about 30 minutes to kill before heading back to Morro Bay. We stopped here to enjoy a cold beer and look around inside.
We were here at about 6:00 on a Saturday night and were among about 4 other customers. There was one bartender, which was enough for that crowd. She took our order right away and we simply walked around the bar and drank our beer. Much of the place looks as if it has never changed over the years. I truly enjoyed it and would have liked to spend more time here. It would be a great spot for friends to meet and have a drink either before or after eating dinner at one of the local places.
Note - they did not take debit cards. Bring cash.

if you are lucky Jeremy is tending bar. Personable, tourist guide and damn good at his craft. If extra lucky then Cayucos own "Norm" aka Bruce awaits you at the bar - follow his suggestions fellow touristas it's well worth it. We avoided this place at first due to poor reviews on TA our primary source of legitimacy. Hopefully this sets it straight. Great place with VERY friendly locals. Be aware it's cash only. Good live music at weekends.

Old Cayucos Saloon 103 year old Saloon on Main Street in Cayucos. Thought might be a fun spot to stop in for an afternoon cocktail. The Barkeep was a total Grump. Left not really planning on going back.Well Friday night wanted to try again since not many choices in the area. Lo and Behold it turns out they must only hire grumpy bartender s.There was a shift change and both bartenders acted as if we were bothering them . Any way too bad because could be a great place to hang and have fun. Won't be back

Not the place to take your date unless she is a meth head in search of a fix.
There are a couple of nice places in this town to drink, eat, and actually get a smile from the staff...this place literally stinks.

A group of us decided to go to the bar in Cayucos to drink and play pool. Bad idea.We were willing to overlook the filthy unmaintained condition of the bar, but a couple of us asked for one of the most potent drinks, a Long Island, and the drinks we received tasted mostly of sweet and sour. I understand that she was young and maybe hasn't been making drinks very long, but we have had a few long islands in our time and this drink sucked. The other drinks that the group ordered were not good either. We asked to have it stiffened and got nowhere unless we wanted to buy more shots to add. If we buy a drink we obviously don't want to pay for mostly sweet and sour. They were rude and refused to give us the managers information when we asked. They claimed that the older security guard was the manager and he claimed that it was their policy and made no attempt to make it right and was quite grumpy. We are sorry we bothered them by showing up to have a good time. If you want to have a good time playing pool and drinking go to Morro Bay. There are three great bars to play pool at and all have a more pleasant staff.

When I was going through one of my many mid life crises I frequented the Tavie and I love it. The bands on the weekends are great and you can dance and drink just like in 1979!

This review is based on a daytime visit to the tavern on our drive down the coast - I imagine it would be a lot more fun at night and if I'd been drinking! There's free parking all around so pull up, grab some cookies from the neighbouring Brown Butter Cookie Company, head into the Tavern, buy a drink or two (soft drink or otherwise) and tip the barman.
Our barman was great; he didn't mind us eating our cookies in there, encouraged us to walk around and explore the bar and all its weird little rooms like the card room in the back, and chatted with us about the drive down the coast and other places to stop.
There's no getting away from the fact that it is just a bar, but it is at least an interesting bar, it's cheap, and the barman was really welcoming and informative. If you're going to stop somewhere for a drink on your coastal drive, it's much better to stop here than some faceless bar or service station café.

IThis is a great place to have a drink and a meet a new friend. Every time we've been here, the service has been incredible and we've always left with a new friend. It's a great place to unwind on a Friday or Saturday night.

Came in on a Friday night for a few drinks. The man behind the bar was busy with a customer and gestured to me he would be a couple of minutes. No problem. Then a woman came behind the bar and asked what we would like, my other half asked what beers they had in and she said "get off your *** and have a look yourself" and walked off. And then proceeded to serve every other single person who came in after us. We left after 10 minutes. Shocking service and totally uncalled for.
