This is a great spot for families to bring the kids to play. The one drawback is that it is directly alongside the train tracks and the train whistle is very loud possibly causing hearing damage! Otherwise, a nice spot for kids to hang out.

My 2 and 5 year old LOVE this play area! They could happily spend hours there. I really appreciate it being fenced in, smartest thing ever in a playground. Lots of great landscaping and seating for the parents. Large field beside it, great for a picnic. Beach right down the street. The play area itself is like a little history lesson of a Chumash Indian village with 'waterfall' slides, 'rock' tunnels, village huts and a rainbow bridge. Its certainly a fun twist on the regular old park visit. We come and play as often as we can.

There is places to buy food and snacks across the street and bathroom facilities down towards the beach within walking distance. So, if you are exploring Carpin

Requires an adult to be very "interpretative' but still a fairly good playground for kids under 10, who can use their imaginations. Not to big, so it can get crowded, and nice to have benches available to sit and watch the action.

This little park is away from the main road. The ground is padded so no worries about getting sand in shoes. There are benches for parents, some in the shade. Nice park for younger children.

My grandchildren have grown up playing at the Tomol Interpretive Play Area. It's directly across the street from The Spot burger shack and great for little kids. They have soft padding on the ground to protect from falls. The equipment consists of a roller slide, triple steeper slides, a Chumash canoe, and jungle gym "huts." There is a path to run around, which includes a "rainbow bridge" and climbing rocks. Seal and whale climbing structures are also there for the kids to enjoy. There's a little grassy area to sit on and several benches for parents to use. Trains come by often and it's fun to wave at the engineer. In my opinion, the area is not appropriate for children over eight or nine. It's definitely designed for the toddler to six-year-old set.

This is a wonderful play area for kids. It is safe and fun. Right in front of it there is the Island Brewery, so if that is what you like, you can go there while your kids play and watch them from there! It is also fun for kids when the train passes by!

Great initiative by local Rotary to finance the play area; but super poor location! Play area only separated from busy train tracks by 4 ft chain link fence... Absolutely not a place to loose eye on your kids! There is a blind curve just ahead on the tracks, so you do not see the trains coming until it is too late...........

Nice small park near State Beach. Especially good for smaller children. Includes many different elements, from tomols (boats) and dolphin statues to climb on, to unusual slides, and walking paths.
