Stunning selections, helpful staff, world-wide specimens, pleasant, walkable paths.
Jun 2021
This is an exordinary Botanic Garden --a major find on this part of the west coast! I love the marvelous flat garden path stones for easy walking, winding through an amazing variety of plants from around the globe, including very tall, ancient trees like Norfolk Island Pines which thrive in this area. The commercial nursery has abundant varieties and I especially love the gift-shop invenory, including even small sculpture items (like birds and animals). Staff always willing to answer even stupid questions: Altogether Five Stars!

Wow! They Have It All
Feb 2020
The employees are great here. They invited us to take as many photos as we wanted while walking through their various garden areas. They have a Grassland area, a Wetlands area, succulents, California native plants, Asian, Australian and South African areas. Paths intertwine and it is a lovely space. They have very unusual varieties here. They have a gift shop with lovely items, plus a large plant stock area that you can browse. They have a wonderful selection of pottery and even a table where you can pot your own succulent selection. We spent about ninety minutes walking through the various displays. There are restrooms in the gift shop if you have need of them.

Magical place tucked away in the fields. Amazing, out of this world!
Mar 2019
This place is magical. We were heading up to Carpinteria for a couple of days' business and looked up a little "what to to here" article. One of their top 10's was Seaside Gardens, so we decided to take a look. The description was nice but the reality was amazing.
OK, this place is a working nursery and everything else, but they've given over a couple of acres of their property to create the most wonderful series of botanic gardens, with plants and landscaping from all over the world. You can walk around the various areas and marvel at the beauty of it all. They have ponds, pergolas, Buddhas, architectural structures, even a Balinese-looking pagoda. And it's so peaceful and beautiful to be in.
It's nestled in the fields at the base of the Santa Barbara mountains and the location is pretty dramatic as well as beautiful.
Best of all for us was that we visited in March and all of the Spring flowers were out in full bloom, there was a riot of color everywhere. We got some amazing photos and we visited again a couple of times as my wife decided to make a painting of it all, which is also a riot of color and beauty.
We even met the owner and her dog, what a life's labor of love it must have been to put this place together. We will definitely keep returning to this place, and if you want to take a moment and get the world off your shoulders for an hour or so, go visit the Seaside Gardens. You won't be disappointed.

Nice nursery with beautiful and healthy plants!
Nov 2018
This place is more like a botanic garden! Many plants from all over including my favorites California natives and succulents. There are also interesting pots and garden decorative objects that are quite reasonable.

More than a Nursery
Sep 2018 • Friends
Seaside Fardens is a nursery and botanical garden with a variety of sections landscaped to display various regional planting’s ie. grasses, desert, native CA, Asian influenced etc. it is fun to stroll along the paths and become inspired to improve your own garden. The knowledgeable staff is helpful and accommodating with suggestion for plants you can purchase. There is a plentiful selection of beautiful succulents and great ideas for trying your hand at creating your own arrangements. There are lots of planters and garden kitsch you can easily spend a couple of hours on your visit. I wish I had a place like this close to home.

An amazing botanical garden!
Apr 2017 • Family
Though I was initially somewhat disappointed this botanical garden is not actually seaside and has no views of the ocean, this was quite a gem and one of the nicest botanical gardens I have seen. Entry is free, since it is at the site of a commercial nursery. In a sense, the garden is a series of lesson in how to properly landscape your home. There was a Mediterranean Garden, a Succulent Garden and a variety of others, blending tropical trees, colorful flowers, artificial figurines and fixed structures like stone seating and fountains in a way that was just breathtaking. Plus, being situated next to a nursery, if you see a plant you want in your own yard, you can go out and buy it. I did the Santa Barbara Botanic Garden the same day, which was a beautiful nature walk, but if you want to see hordes of flowers, Seaside Gardens is the place to go!

Big selection, plus extensive well executed planted areas
Aug 2016 • Solo
I've been going to Seaside Gardens for years now. They have an extensive selection of all different kinds of plants, grouped according to origin and type. The best thing about this place though, is the extensive planted areas designed by local landscape designers. It's a great way to see various plants in a mature environment. There are many succulents and gifts available as well. Highly recommended!

Nice gardens

Seaside Gardens is in a nice location with a great selection of planes. If you go in
June, the Lotus are blooming in the koi pond. A great place to get ideas for your garden.
A little bit on the prices side.

Beautiful gardens
May 2016 • Couples
I had planned to visit an expensive succulent garden nearby. Instead, I ended up at this wonderful free garden and shop. The owners were friendly and had a map which helped us tour plants from around the world. We spent almost two hours wandering and getting lots of great ideas! I took tons of pictures. My favorite part of the gardens were the planters. Fabulous!
