Pacific ocean. Clean sandy beach strewn about with seaweed shells and driftwood. A lone seal is bobbing amoungst the breaking waves about 20 feet out searching for breakfast as the first rays of the sun trickle and glean over the crests of the dunes to...More
Wonderful beach for toddlers and children. Driftwood structures are fun the beach is shallow, and there is a state campground nearby as well as wonderful eateries within walking distance if you don't wan to cook.
Carpinteria State Beach has been our go to beach for the past 2 years for just a picnic day trip to relax on the beach. My friend and I wanted to get out of the Santa Barbara beaches that were filled with seaweed and sand...More
Family oriented beach with bathrooms in the state park. You can park just outside the park for no fee if you are coming in for a walk on he beach. Stretches for seemingly at least a mile in both directions
Fabulous for sunset photos

Just got back and Carp claims to be the the safest beach in the world. There hasn't been a recorded attack of a white shark in Carp. I would bring coconut oil and baby powder for the tar you might get on your feet.
There are no hotels on the beach-just condo rentals. I don't know which spa you are talking about. Sorry.

I have not stayed at either one, but I would go with the one in Santa Barbara. It is the very first Motel 6, after all.
Several Beaches Closed Until Further Notice (7 Replies)
Several beaches around Santa Barbara are closed until further notice because an emergency permit allowed them to dump contaminated mud & waste on the beaches. •Arroyo Burro Beach, or Hendry’s Beach, in Santa Barbara •Carpinteria State Beach, 12 miles south of Santa Barbara •East Beach near downtown Santa Barbara •El Capitan State Beach, 17 miles west of Santa Barbara •Hope Ranch Beach •Goleta Beach, in Goleta •Summerland Beach, in Summerland

Thanks for the info. Heading up there this weekend, and under normal circumstances would have gone to Arroyo Burro with the pups. Poor Santa Barbara.
PCH: Carpinteria State Beach to San Francisco 2 days/1 night (2 Replies)
Hello! My wife and I are visiting California next month and after camping overnight at Carpinteria State Beach plan to drive up the Pacific Coast Highway - stopping over a night somewhere and continuing to drive up to SFO where we'll be flying out late that night. Assuming we leave Carpinteria and wherever we stop off the next day at 10am and drive until sunset I'm assuming we have about 5-6 hours of driving with an additional 14-15 hours for stops along the way. Important question...More

tripadvisor.com/Travel-g28926-c197885/Califo… Skip pebble beach. and look for signs for Highway 1 as PCH is the name south of the Central Coast. Please make your hotel reservations in advance. You may want to stay in Cambria as the next day you do have a really long drive if you want to see things and explore Carmel et al and then a 2 1/2 or so drive to SFO. It will be rushed
