Great public course if you can hit the ball straight on command. Lots of blind shots. Greens and bunkers are usually in great shape. Not as much fun if the course is wet.

Love this golf course and the staff is great too. You will really enjoy the deer and the fowl that are frequent visitors. The course is maintained nicely and they have a good pro shop. There is a cafe grill on site too.

Played with friends after absence for a few years. The course is challenging enough for the better players but playable enough for us duffers. Greens were sufficiently groomed and shop personnel helpful.

I love this golf course! It's easy to walk and wild animals are always being seen. It's really pretty and even near a river and park. It's my favorite course in this area.

Ancil Hoffman is a challenging 18 hole course. snd the roaming deer, turkeys and coyotes bring an additional challenge. It has several beautiful nature walks and the Effie Yeau nature center. Wonderful place for picnics and dog walks.

Ancil Hoffman is a mature golf course with mature trees. However, on whole 15 and 16 especially the large trees overhanging the fairway create unfair obstructions to the green.

This is the best municipal course in the Sacramento area, hands down. It is a very traditional layout. Tree lined fairways with elevated greens surrounded by bunkers, The course lies in the American River Parkway which means you will be joined in your round by the local wildlife. It is a rare day that you don't have deer, turkeys and... More

They have typical sandwich/burger menu with some specials for the day. Beer available. The beautiful view of the golf course makes every meal special.

I golf all over Sacramento and out lying areas and Ancil Hoffman is one of my favorites. There is not a great deal of trouble if you can stay out of the trees, and the greens are fairly slow, which suits me best compared to other courses in the area. There is lots of shade in the heat of the... More

Nestled away from the local business and housing is a beautiful golf course. Sharing the grounds is a nature center and borders the American River. Ancil Hoffman has an abundance of trees that line every fairway which makes an errant ball pay the price. It is not uncommon to see baby fawns grazing along with full grown deer in the... More
