We love to walk along the flat trail at Batiquitos Lagoon each time we come to visit our son & his family in Carlsbad. The walk by the water has signs along the way to point out some of Nature's interesting creatures (herons, ducks, & even pack rats). There is also a small museum that children like to explore. Parking is either in a small parking area or in the neighborhood streets. Dogs & strollers are welcome.

The lagoon is right in a neighborhood yet once you’re on trail you feel like you are in a different place! The path is marked and has signage for what to look for as type of animal or bird. This trail is good for families, couples, joggers, but not for the disabled. Dogs are allowed on leash and you must clean up if necessary. Fabulous get away spot!

Beautiful morning walk, usually with dogs. Most people obey the leash laws, but a few idiots don’t, always yelling “my dog is friendly”.... well, idiots, other dogs, on leases don’t like it & so get a clue! Otherwise, joggers & the few bikers work well on the path. It’s quite serene once away from the freeway noise and a beautiful photographic area. Always seems safe, lots of families, couples, singles.

There is a great trail that you can walk and watch for mullet fish to jump in the lagoon and birds to sound and butterflies to dance. No kayaks or boats or anything allowed in the water so its a pure look at the ecosystem. One note is depending on the wind the freeway can present some noise.
