About
Award-winning professional theatre in the heart of Carlsbad Village. Located in the historic Bauer Lumber Building, New Village Arts presents six mainstage theatre productions each year, ranging from classic musicals to modern favorites and exciting new works. NVA also produces a concert series throughout the year, an annual gala each winter, and more. We offer classes for children, teens, and the elderly, including programs for teens with special needs and for adults with early-stage dementia and Alzheimer's. Located in the building is our Foundry Artist Studios--studio space for 16 resident artists working in a variety of mediums and styles. Each month the Foundry hosts an Artist Reception with a gallery showcase, live music, refreshments, and interactive art. With theatre, visual arts, music, and education programs, NVA is the premier arts hub in North County San Diego.

Discover a gem!
Feb 2020
This little theater boasts some of the best actors, directors, and productions you'll see anywhere! Situated right on the train tracks right downtown Carlsbad. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from to make it a full night out. Parking is easy and ticket prices are a bargain.
Don't miss out on a production if you're visiting. Go out of your way if you're going to be anywhere in North County.
Just saw "Murder for Two" last night and it's hilarious. What talent!

Best play we've seen in years!!
Oct 2019
Lynn Nottage is a fabulous playwright, and NVA's production of her masterpiece is wonderful. The cast from top to bottom was wonderful. The theater is an intimate venue with comfortable seating and easy parking. I never would have expected such a high-quality production from such a small community theatre. It was as good as anything we've seen on the Geffen stage in the past 20 years. Go see it!!

Intimate Venue
Dec 2018 • Couples
This is an intimate venue for very entertaining theatrical performances. We thoroughly enjoyed “Miss Bennett: Christmas at Pemberly”. It was well written, staged and performed. A great evening in downtown Carlsbad. We shall most definitely return!

We attended the preview performance of Men on Boats. In this instance, the 10 men were women. This historic tale cover the exploration of the Colorado River, it was witty and entertaining. The cast performance was excellent.
There are no bad seats in this cozy venue.

The staff and ushers were very nice and friendly. The artist workshops are open next door before the performance. It is a small theater so I got very engrossed in the play.

Excellent show at the NVA Theatre
Jul 2017 • Couples
My wife and I attended a Thursday evening performance of the "Buddy Holly Story" at the NVA Theatre. The threatre, located in downtown Carlsbad is an intimate (only six rows of seats) venue. The performance was well attended with only a couple of empty seats. The show was excellent with a fine cast that did a very good job. The show lasted a little over two hours with a short intermission. As far as we could tell, the show was enjoyed by all ages in attendance. They were called back for an encore. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at the NVA theatre.

Great Little Theater in the Village
Dec 2016 • Family
What a great way to spend an evening after dinner in Carlsbad Village. Over the recent Holidays we stumbled on the New Village Arts Theater presentation of "THE 1940s RADIO HOUR". The local group puts on several shows in their newly remodeled theater which seats about 100, so ever seat is up close and personal. It's really neat to see a local group putting their everything into a show. We left the show with a "warm fuzzy" feeling for have seen something very special in small town America.
