About
Award-winning professional theatre in the heart of Carlsbad Village. Located in the historic Bauer Lumber Building, New Village Arts presents six mainstage theatre productions each year, ranging from classic musicals to modern favorites and exciting new works. NVA also produces a concert series throughout the year, an annual gala each winter, and more. We offer classes for children, teens, and the elderly, including programs for teens with special needs and for adults with early-stage dementia and Alzheimer's. Located in the building is our Foundry Artist Studios--studio space for 16 resident artists working in a variety of mediums and styles. Each month the Foundry hosts an Artist Reception with a gallery showcase, live music, refreshments, and interactive art. With theatre, visual arts, music, and education programs, NVA is the premier arts hub in North County San Diego.

This little theater boasts some of the best actors, directors, and productions you'll see anywhere! Situated right on the train tracks right downtown Carlsbad. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from to make it a full night out. Parking is easy and ticket prices are a bargain.
Don't miss out on a production if you're visiting. Go out of your way if you're going to be anywhere in North County.
Just saw "Murder for Two" last night and it's hilarious. What talent!

This is a small, intimate theater where you get up close and complete views of the actors. The acoustics are very good and if you're so inclined, you can bring a beverage, alcoholic or non, to enjoy while you watch the plays. I'm a season ticket holder and have not seen a play I did not really enjoy!

We have been to about four plays so far at NVA and they have all been well done and we look forward to going back. The whole vibe of the place is wonderful, with coffee, wine, and beer selections inside and usually a dessert food truck out front. The other great thing about NVA is the connected artist's studio where you can walk through and see local artists at work (if they are in their stalls) or at least gaze upon their work as you sip your aforementioned beverage.
I highly encourage all San Diego county residents, especially if your in north county, to check out a play or special event at NVA. You will be entertained, you will feel welcome and feel a part of a community, and be happy you went.

It's hard to pin down why this place is so fabulous. The choice of productions is astoundingly on target! The acting is great! The venue is artsy and intimate! Check to see if anything is playing while in town, and then don't hesitate to go!

Lynn Nottage is a fabulous playwright, and NVA's production of her masterpiece is wonderful. The cast from top to bottom was wonderful. The theater is an intimate venue with comfortable seating and easy parking. I never would have expected such a high-quality production from such a small community theatre. It was as good as anything we've seen on the Geffen stage in the past 20 years. Go see it!!

Cozy venue, everyone is super friendly and amazing acting/vocal. Nice little bar for a cocktail before show. We had a great time at Little Shop of Horrors- sooooo funny!!!! Amazing!!! Don’t miss it if visiting Carlsbad or grab season tickets if you are local. BONUS- right next-door to handles for a scoop before or after!!!

This is an intimate venue for very entertaining theatrical performances. We thoroughly enjoyed “Miss Bennett: Christmas at Pemberly”. It was well written, staged and performed. A great evening in downtown Carlsbad. We shall most definitely return!

We really like this place. Usually better than average performances. We saw "Sylvia" last week. Hard to stop laughing. Near the coaster. Easy parking. Restaurants nearby. Some performances are suitable for familiies.

The golden age of radio was really quiet apparent in the NVA's current production "The 1940's Radio Hour". My husband and I were impressed by the talent of the company and the wonderful entertaining production . It is so close to home and it was the first time we attended. We will definitely plan on attending the three remaining productions. Parking was no problem. We came 15 minutes before the show began to get our will call tickets.

You say all seats are good, but I am buying 2 tickets for the April 2018 Shakespeare event. No seats are taken yet. Which seats should I buy for the biggest Shakespeare fan on earth? It's a brave new world!
We always recommend dead center--Row C or D, right in the middle, if they're available!

Where is the best place to park for the show?
You can park on the street (it says 3-hour parking but it is not enforced), or in the free commuter parking lot next to the train station. Leave a little extra time for parking on weekend matinees and Friday and Saturday evenings.

During September, we are running the Rodgers & Hammerstein musical OKLAHOMA! Our shows run Thursdays - Sundays, so your best chance at catching the show would be the 2pm matinee on September 11th. Thanks!

We are running Conor McPherson's THE WEIR. It's a great Irish play about a group of people telling ghost stories in a rural Irish pub. More information can be found on our website. Thanks!
