As homebrewers we've developed a passion for hand crafted beer. This passion has inspired us to create a unique tour that highlights San Diego's scenic beauty, awesome food, and most of all radical micro-breweries. San Diego is also becoming widely known for its many award winning Craft Breweries. San Diego currently has 36 Breweries crafting some of America's most highly awarded Pale Ales, Stouts, IPA's, and Porters, etc

Celebrated my 50th birthday with a trip to San Diego and the Scavenger's tour. I never travel without seeking out the best in local brews, and have been to the Great American Beer Festival several times, but this beat any other experience. The uniqueness of the ride in the military vehicle, the choice of breweries, and the knowledge and personal charm of Adam our guide was fabulous. We toured 2 small breweries, Iron Fist and Mother Earth, and finished at Lost Abbey/ Port Brewing. More than enough samples of the beer were provided, and the charm of these smaller breweries was a highlight of the trip. Everyone was very friendly and loved talking about their beer. The pride they take in their craft is evident, and highly justifiable-- the beers were highly unique and wonderful to drink. Kudos to Adam for being deeply into the craft beer scene of San Diego/ southern California and providing the opportunity to sample these tremendous brews. Although we were only visiting from Texas, somehow I will return and do this again, or at least make sure anyone I know visiting SD knows about this tremendous opportunity. Well done, Scavengers, well done!...

I took my husband on this tour for his birthday and we both had a blast!! Adam did a great job of organizing the day and keeping everybody on schedule. Loved all of the craft beers we tasted and lunch was fabulous! It was a great day and we will certainly be going again! Thanks Adam!

Went on the beer tour last weekend with a bunch of friends. It was fantastic, I can't believe the value for money.
You better love beer, cause if you do this tour your gonna drink a lot of it, and there is nothing wrong with that. Trip included food too, which was great and delicious.
I honestly can not make any suggestions for them to improve on, anything you can think of they have it covered, just pay them the money and they'll take care of the rest, oh make sure you tip the driver some of us nearly forgot and that would've been rude, because he put up with all our beer drinking shenanigans.

With the rise of craft beer, there has been a sharp increase in the number of related services. One such service is brewery tours, most of which are conducted by a bus tour business. There are some more creative business approaches out there, and one happens to be Scavengers Beer and Adventure Tours.

What sets Scavengers Beer and Adventure Tours apart? The main difference is the vehicle. Rather than transport you and 70 or so other guests in a large bus, Scavengers Tours utilize a six- wheel Swiss safari vehicle. They seat about 12 people and feature an open- air design so that you can wave at passersby, listen to cheers from onlookers, and otherwise turn an ordinary tour into something more memorable. You and your friends just climb in through the back, take a seat on one of the side benches, and off you go.

I have taken traditional beer bus brewery tours, but I like Scavengers better for several reasons. Chief among them is that, well, Scavengers is a lot more fun! There are only 12 or fewer people on board, so you are likely going to be in the company of friends or friends-soon-to-be. The driver is very close to everyone so it’s easy to get his attention and ask questions. When I did the tour, they even offered complimentary cans of beer for everyone on board. And they play live music as you travel, to keep everyone entertained.

Because these vehicles are smaller than a bus, they offer an additional advantage that may not be so obvious at first: The ability to fit into a small space. Buses are too long and large to fit just anyplace and depending on the brewery, you may not be able to get very close to the entrance. These safari vehicles, in contrast, are much smaller and that means they can fit into smaller spaces and get you and your friends much closer to your ultimate destination.

Since Scavengers Beer and Adventure Tours use a safari vehicle, you and the other riders are more intimate with the road, and that means you can feel the bumps and movements more acutely than you would in a bus. Also, because they are lower on the inside, you cannot stand up. However, there is still plenty of headroom once you get seated and guests should have no problem getting themselves situated and comfortable.

Ordinary buses are an acceptable way to visit breweries but Scavengers Beer and Adventure Tours offers something more interesting. It’s a fun concept and one I recommend to anyone who wants to visit breweries, leave the driving to someone else, and experience something a little out of the ordinary while they visit southern California.

What a great day! Along with 3 of my beer loving buddies we climbed aboard the truck accompanied by 6 other beer and fun loving adventurers. Adam and Kyle were super and kept the fun moving along. This is a must for even the most experienced beer lover. We would do it again and again.

This tour was a lot of fun. The vehicle is a lot of fun and conducive to meeting new friends (fellow beer drinkers). An afternoon well spent. Zach (guide) is well informed but not obtrusive. A++

We received 2 Scavengers tours as Christmas presents. After a little consideration our gifters thought the tour sounded so great that they drove down from Sacramento to join us on a North County Beer Tour. Everything about our tour was perfect. Our guide Brian was very knowledgeable about beer and so many of the local craft beers. Brian was also a great host and a conscientious driver. One of our group brews beer and Brian is a brewer so they could also talk shop.

The Brewery selection was great for all four of us. We went to Mason Works/ Urge Restaurant, Bagbee and Stone's Oceanside Tap Room. There were plenty of tasting selections for all four of our different beer likes. Example: one of our group likes stouts and was able to sample nine different stouts from the 3 breweries. We capped the day with some tasty BBQ from "That Boy Good". It was a relaxing, scenic, palette pleasing adventure.

We know many North County Breweries but on the tour we were introduced to two we knew nothing about and are were both keepers. The tour was a good value and we will do it again.

Grab a bunch of friends and head out for a tour with these guys and you'll have a fun-filled day. We booked a private tour for a birthday celebration and it was fantastic. Our tour guide was wonderful and incredibly accommodating and knowledgeable, and riding in their vehicle was a memorable experience. I highly recommend Scavengers Beer & Adventure Tours!

We planned this tour as part of a bachelorette party. We did the 10:30 North County tour.

Brian was a great guide who was very laid back and knowledgable about beer. The mornings tour seemed like an early start but it was quite nice that the first two breweries were not busy during our tour. We enjoyed all the beer and it was great to try breweries I wouldn't even know existed without the tour. We definitely had more beer tasting than we were capable of consuming but we didn't feel rushed at all.
