This is a fairly large campground close to a wonderful beach and beautiful Capitola. It is relatively close to the 101 so depending on where your site is located a freeway hum is almost unavoidable. We reserved a so called premium site (89) which provides more space. Ours did have ocean view and you could put a seat down at... More

This is a lovely beach and, during good weather, very popular so be prepared for lots of people. There is a day use fee ($10.00 ??) and sometimes there aren't enough parking places. We didn't camp, but this State Beach does have it. I have heard you need to book long in advance during the high season.

We just took a long walk along the beach, wading in the water to stay cool. Found out that you can enter all the state parks with one pass. Good deal!

We used this site for a night because they have a hike/bike area so there's always space for cyclists, but there were a huge number of rules esp. compared to other state parks. We couldn't check in before 4pm, had to leave by 9am and couldn't stay in the hike/bike section for more than one night, which is different to... More

We try to camp at New Brighton at least once a year; however, you have to book 6 months in advance to even get a camp site! Perfect location too! You can walk to the beach (very short walk from the campground) and we also walked to downtown Capitola to go to the Capitola Art & Wine Festival. Campgrounds and... More

Beautiful beach from the top of the cliff. There is so much debris on the beach there is no place to sit and chill. We have 4 labs which love to swim in the ocean, this beach is not the beach.

Camping is offered above the beach but reservations are hard to get. There are trails down to the beach from the campground. Day use parking is also available. Currently, there is a large sink hole that they are dealing with in the parking lot from the winter storms of 2016. A restroom is located at the entrance to the beach,... More

The price is right if you can get a reservation. Like almost all California State camp grounds, this one is booked months in advance. We were lucky enough to find a mid week, 2 night slot. Most of the sites are pretty average. The sites with trees typically have poison oak in any shady spots and the non-shade sites are... More
