I came here on Saturday noon. There aren't much people, which make the place silent harmonically with a lot of trees. This shrine is surrounded by mountains, so you can feel good Japanese nature while you stay here. There is a small cave and pond, and they make the atmosphere very holy and ancient. I recommend this place if you wanna feel calm and relaxed.

I visited the shrine after learning for the first time that it is one of Japan's three great shrines for good fortune.

It is surrounded by fields and residential areas, giving it a calm atmosphere.

The approach to the shrine is lined with cherry trees on both sides, and I imagine it would be beautiful during cherry blossom season.

After climbing the stairs while looking at the pond on your right, you will find a gift shop to the left of the torii gate where you can purchase amulets and goshuin.

It is said to have a long history in Shikoku.
I visited the upper shrine, the "Main Shrine," followed by "Kotohira Shrine" and then "Shimomiya."

The main shrine is a historic building dating back to 1908, and the large sacred cypress tree near the Shimomiya was impressive.

It is the Ichinomiya of Awa Province, Chiba. It seems to have a connection with Awa Province, Tokushima. A wide approach continues beyond the white torii gate. Many of the shrine buildings are new. The main hall is in the same Shinmei-zukuri style as Ise Jingu, which was rebuilt in the Meiji period. There are also cave ruins from the Jomon period on the grounds.
